  1. They don’t have to destroy it themselves. As is amply pointed out here, the Palestinians will do that for themselves.

They will never know peace because they have no peace.

They will never know wealth because they do not know how to create it.

And giving it to them turns them into permanent victims and kleptocrats aka Arafat, who drove his people to lunatic madness while becoming a multimillionaire…

Until they wake up to the fact that the core dysfunction is in their own societies, it won’t matter what the Jews do or don’t do to the Arabs… it will pale beside what the Arabs are doing to themselves.

  2. My only hope is that Israel has a huge miltary plan on standby and that this is the biggest sucker play ever invented. “Oh look, we gave back all that territory, more than half our country, and still they attack us and demand more. Well, that’s it, now we fight.” And then DO IT. 2000%. In all directions. North into Syria right up to Turkey. South past the Suez Canal right to the eastern side of the Nile, East through Jordan up to the Iraqi border. Probably only take them about 2 weeks. No refugee camps either; push them all out or put them to the bayonet. Harsh? You betcha. Draconian? Without doubt, its retribution on an Old Testament scale. Isane? Probably. But effective, doable, and unstoppable. What, you think France is going to invade and stop them?

But that would require someone like Karl Rove to be in charge. Not gonna happen. I cry for the memory of Israel for I fear all is lost. They’re even more self-destructive than we are. They have the power to create an empire there, yet they only want to live in peace. I respect that, but they are willing to surrender nearly everything for the false dream of living in peace. They refuse to see the fallacy of the dream, even with weekly explosive reminders.

  3. Oh, just wanted to say, before I get flamed raw, that you can’t fight a war on terror by surrendering. Fight is the operative word. Proactive engagement and a will to actually win. Don’t see it from W, not seeing it from Sharon either.

  4. About thirty years ago, I was talking to a guy who worked for a large American truck manufacturer. He told me that they had sold 2,500 over-the-road tractors (18 wheeler type)to an Arab country, and within the first year 2,200 of them were inoperative, because they were wrecked, run out of oil, had brakes burned up and parts stolen.  He said, kind of sadly, that they might as well have sold them to chimpanzees.

Another time, I was in a Berlitz class in D.C., and among the students were five Arabs learning English.  On breaks we would go sit in the lounge, which was like a living room with carpet and overstuffed chairs and couches.  These Arabs were very proud to tell me how great and wonderful their country was, how they didn’t have to work, all the while spitting on the carpet. They also ground out their cigarettes on the carpet.

They are, to a large extent, still in the Middle Ages, with a dangerous dose of modern weapons to play with.

Those poor Arab bastards have grown rich as nations on oil, but they have a huge birth rate, have individually been weaned from self-reliance by government doles, their Arab practice of bakshish has corrupted the civil servants in their governments, and if left on their own without the oil income, would collapse as nations and revert to a sheep herding bedouin and subsistence farming existence, IF they could remember how to do that.

That is where the Paleswinians are and IMO, the rest of the Arab world doesn’t want to help the Paleswinians because:
They don’t like or trust them, and
They are useful cannon fodder to harass Israel.

If Arab oil dried up tomorrow, it would wreak hardship on us, but I bet we’d figure a way to get by.  I almost wish it would happen, just for the satisfaction of watching them eat sand.

  5. SKIPPER’S SOLUTION: carpet bomb Gaza after the last Jews leave. So mote it be!

    LOL

  6. Drew, No flamage gonna happen here, most of us agree with you 100%.

In a war like this, there can only be 2 things, a WINNER, and a LOSER, the loser dies or gives up.

There have been NO winners in this war yet, so no matter what Israel does, it will gain nothing until they get serious and WIN the war, THAT is when they will have peace.

  7. You’ll note that the UN and the ICRC are bailing out of there before the withdrawl. I’m willing to bet that there will be no other NGOs staying behind either. No matter what they say, they know the reality of what’s going to happen. The displaced arabs are going to be at each other’s throats the moment the Israeli army pulls out of there.

Those creatures don’t build anything. Billions have been handed to them and they have yet to lay one brick upon another or build a yard of roadway for themselves. I’m pissed off that we’re back to giving them more money.

  8. Scriptfox: I have heard the same. The Saudis have very few home-grown skills. Their economy is dependent on contracted specialists and general labourers. Arabs in general have a problem with accepting responsibility and actively doing something about their problems. Dick’s examples illustrate this.

I expect the Gaza strip to implode in a Palestinian civil war. The only people able or willing to clear up the mess will be the Israelis. As an Israeli politician said (forget who): “The Palestinians never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity”. In this case, they succeed in getting enough rope to hang themselves - politically.

I expect to hear “told you so” from the White House within a year or so. The fact that the Palestinians are incapable of even running a bath will not impinge on the Arab mentality. (It’ll all be the fault of the “Joooz” - their standard immature conspiracy boilerplate.) We won’t know anything we didn’t know before.  mad

  9. The biggest fear that Israel has is getting attacked while they pull out.  To defend the pullout, they setup a series of six rings of defense around the settlements.  Also, Drew may be right! The Israeli’s rarely do anything without an extensive plan in place.  I’ve heard warnings from Israel to the Palestinians in regards to any attacks launched from the old settlements into Israel (homemade rockets or suicide bombers).  This pullout leaves Israel vulnerable.  It does not make sense, they extend the olive branch in one hand they had better have a big stick in the other ready to thwack them!  This may be a ploy to ensure western european sympathy and to get the Israeli Left to open their eyes.  The Right is already pissed off about the pullout so there will be no need to convince them.  “See, See we gave them the settlements and look, they just attack us!”.  If the Palestinians launch a huge attack against Israel from the former settlements, they will get squashed like the cockroaches they are.  More likely the Palestinians will just end up killing themselves over the messy scrap of land.

The Israeli military will be stripping the homes of valuables and smashing the roofs, leaving the rubble for the Palestinians to clean up. It was stated this would create jobs for the Palestinians.  A few government buildings will be left to the PA. Some of the fleeing Israeli settlers are already burning their crops and houses.
