  1. Talked to my husband earlier (NAS Pensacola)

    No word on evac yet.

He said from looking out his dorm room window he could see a hurricane party going on in the courtyard…

  2. Severa, I’m originally from that area. I would say everything from Penacola to Appalachicola is going to get smashed. This beast is going to spend a long time over the very warm waters of the Gulf, building up strength. It’s going to be a definite Cat-5 when it hits Florida. I was living in Mobile in 1969 when Hurricane Camille smashed ashore. That was the last Cat-5 to hit us. No one wants to be in another one like that. Tell your hubby to stay safe and don’t do anything stupid.

I wouldn’t be surprised if NAS Pensacola, Eglin AFB and Tyndall AFB have already started shuttling aircraft out to safer locations. My guess is they are waiting for the final path of the monster to clarify before sounding the evac order. Look for everyone on Florida’s Gulf Coast to be ordered to get going on Tuesday morning at the latest.

  3. Yeah I was thinking they’d send them over to Jacksonville? Maybe? *L* Last time Jas was in a hurricane it was Isabel and he was on a submarine. Lots of rocking, ppl getting sick, stuff flying everywhere, and cussing cooks trying to secure everything in the galley…
