  1. Glad you posted this.  I was having a hell of a hard time deciding on a new one.  Mine screams bloody murder when I run it and the brushes stop turning if they run into the smallest of obstacles.

I was looking at a Dyson Ball, too.  My choices are now narrowed.  Thanks.

  2. German engineering Drew. Always a winner.
Now then, happy you found the right thing and you are quite correct in your remark about the EPA one day following the actions of tree huggers here. I hate to say so but ... you may count on it.

Question .... dirt bag?  OK.  Usually those things are a fiddle to remove and worse to put in a new one.  Since I haven’t seen the model you bought, can you enlighten me on that subject?

The late MIL had a Hoover. Weight a ton and always falling over and you sure did nail it about things falling off or apart. I hated the damn thing and got rid of it. Actually, it’s stored away cord cut and left in corner of garage.

  3. Hey V. Good to see you here and I meant to ask you. What have you done about the car?
I seem to recall you were undecided about changing or getting a newer Corvette?
I saw some pix 2014 model somewhere. OK I suppose but I still kinda like the older models. I saw a new red vette and not trying to be funny here, in a way it resembled one of those vacuum cleaners that are designed to look like something from Star Wars.

  4. I’m still considering the purchase but have been following the forums and there are some issues with the new launch.  I may need to wait a bit.

Plus it’s a little hard to justify putting inside my garage something worth as much as my entire house.  A lifetime of practicality and thriftiness are hard to overcome simply for a guilty pleasure.

The new Sting Ray is quite the awesome car.  Little details make it cool.  Like an info-tainment screen that drops down giving you access to a compartment large enough to hold a pistol.  Or the back hatch, when opened and viewed from the front, looks like a sting ray.

And 30MPG is nothing to sneeze at in a car with over 450 horses and 3.9 second 0-60 times.

  5. Vilmar ... Pleasure yeah, but guilty?  Nah. If one is feeling guilty one should do as you have and leave it behind.  For the nonce, as the Brits would say. Then go back at a time when you’re sure you won’t feel guilt. Although, I guess it might be way harder to sleep in a Sting Ray then say, a four door caddy. But oh my, the Sting Ray is one hell of a car. They always look like they’re moving even when sitting there still. Have you ever noticed that?

  6. Yes this vacuum has a bag, which is very easy to get in and out. And yeah, the bags are a bit pricey $5/ea and there are no aftermarket brand’s bags in the USA. At this point we don’t care, leaning towards cleaner. But a year or two down the road, when we find out just how many of the $5 bags per year we’re using, then it may be an issue. The bag is heavy cloth and has a plastic plate top with a valve. Slide it up the chute and then lift the chute “ears” and it goes right in. No fighting with it like the Y series bags on the old Hoover.
Nice note is that the top model is discounted 30% in the UK, while the entry level one is discounted here.

Vilmar - we tried out all the Dyson models right there in the store, and they feel like utter crap in comparison. Shake, rattle, and roll: I’ve owned tighter maracas. Plus the things are loud as hell and just plain ugly. Who in their right mind wants a see-thru vacuum cleaner, so you can show off all the grit, crumbs, and dust bunnies from your house? Duh. But worst, Even the $600 Dyson does not pick up dirt as well as this Miele.

Try one, you just might buy it.

  8. You bring a smile to my face.  My old 3.5 HP Kennmore vacuum (circa 1986) is still working fine.
