SEA STORY TIME (That’s USMC-speak for any story that starts with “Now..this ain’t no bullshit...")
But this one is true, and does not involve me. Back at the VA Hospital in the 1980’s I knew a survivor of the USS ARIZONA. He was a slick-sleeve Navy ‘boot’ (new guy) on that Sunday, Dec 7, 1941, and naturally drew all the undesirable chores. This morning he had the onerous chore of getting up before dawn and going ashore to fetch the mail that had been flown in late Saturday. Tough break.
Goes to show that surviving in wartime is mostly dumb luck.
It is a good job Japan was an allie before the last US election, if otherwise mentioning Pearl Harbour would be a federal offense but it is OK as Japan is not ruled by left wing despots you can remind them of bad things.
Ol Mark Levin runs this clip on his radio show alot and I never get tired of hearing it.
