Mom Got Schooled

  1. OK - here goes - it is a problem with OH as one school district has a 97% failure rate and one a few blocks over that district has a 97% graduation rate - we have that idiocy here in our district (suburb of Cincy - better schools than CPS).

When we moved here they would not let us put the kids in school even with a po box & a signed statement that we were attempting to purchase a house in the district (which is another long and drawn out affair fraught with stupid rules and mucho foot dragging). And went bonkers when my daughter signed her son up - because the Attila the Hundress (is that the female of Hun?!?) didn’t read the form that my daughter’s husband was in the ‘Stan at the time (children of the deployed can go to school w/o residency proof here).

Now, that I’ve babbled about our run ins with this district - why did not she just leave the spawn on Monday AM and pick them up on Friday PM? Would’a coulda been a solution - or dropped them off much much earlier at Gramps home and picked them up much much later? Two ways to beat the rap - so to speak. Another way Mom could of/should have done this (btw it is from 2006 t0 2008) so as far as the girls/their education it is a past tense brew haha - would have been for Mom to pay one of Dad’s bills (elec, cable - something) which would have given her his address and a bill to prove it. And where does the father(s) of the spawn live? Was his/their district better?  And oh, yeah before you ask - vouchers don’t exist for getting out of the hell of cities schools - our (former) Dem Gov tried to make sure every single student went to a public school/college. Now half the college grads are living in their parents basement w/o a job and owe for the rest of their natural days - because the banks needs their monies back - most especially if you did not go to a state school. So much for gov loans!!!!

In OH - it (at least here) appears all public assistance seems to be separate - I believe to increase bureaucracy ten fold but that is just mho - so indeed you can be on subsidized housing but not be on public assistance. It says Mom works in special education. In the article I read, the girls were moved not to get a ‘better’ education but so that they would not be latch key girls (wise decision in my eyes given the rep of subsidized housing areas) - Mom works, apparently Gramps doesn’t.

The rules here, as I said for school districts are stupid, craven, base (as in no humanity) and just go to show - when the majority of the people within a district are working and have a work ethic - their schools are good and many want to attend and when the people are layabouts living on the dole - the schools suck and those few parents who want more and/or safety for their children - tend to attempt to get into a better district.

  2. In-fuggin-crediblle.  I had a friend who rented the cheapest apartment he could find in the school district he wanted for his son.  Never lived there, but he had mail and utility bills to prove residence.
The problem with being poor is you can’t afford that.
