  1. Let us begin by assuming that Assad knowingly and with malice aforethought personally ordered and directed a nerve gas attack specifically against innocent women and children.

Even if all that is true, could someone please tell me how it would serve the best interests of the U.S. for us to attack him?

I’m against our taking military action in Syria.  I can see lots of downside and no upside whatsoever if we launch an attack of any kind against Syria.  The only people who could possibly benefit would be the Islamist rebels.  I don’t even see how it could benefit marginal allies such as the Saudis or the Egyptians.

By helping kick off the “Arab Spring”, Obama has already ignited a powder keg in the Mid East.  Taking unilateral action against Syria for a gas attack can only make things even worse.

If Bush was wrong to attack Saddam Hussein, even with international backing, Obama’s unilateral action must certainly qualify as a war crime.  A war crime that doesn’t even provide us with a benefit.

A store clerk where I regularly shop is a young Christian girl from Iraq.  She’s literally terrified of what will happen next and I don’t blame her one bit.  She’s like anyone else with an I.Q. above room temperature.  She has no faith in Obama’s judgement and neither do I.

  2. Its a huge IF the government side used it, had Bush gone in a year sooner they would have still been in Iraq (what would the left have said then) I think we should drop democrats on Syria, starting at the top, a few thousand feet should do, don’t worry about the silk, now that would make the world a better place eh?

  3. Somehow I think a paraphrase of Nancy Pelosi’s immortal words might clarify the understanding of Obama’s logic.

We have to invade the country to find out what’s in it.

  4. This whole fiasco is better than watching “The Red Green show” on PBS.

  5. A blast from the past Obama, from the grooveyard of forgotten hits;
    1 2 3 4! We don’t want your FUCKING WAR!!

  6. Intervening in Syria serves no purpose towards protecting United States interests, enhancing US security, or protecting US citizens.

So why do we care? I have not read one valid reason for the US to get involved in Syria - NOT ONE! Reports from various sources indicate that Syrian Government, the Rebels, or both are using chemical weapons - and yet the UN can’t even admit that chemicals have been used.

To the best of my knowledge, there’s no compelling reason to invade or bomb Syria - none. I’m comfortable with sitting back and waiting to see who survives the mess.

Or we could do as CPL Dwayne Hicks advises - “Nuke ‘Em from orbit - it’s the only way to be sure.”

  7. Dr. Jeff - thread winner! Come on people - this is an over-his-head imbecile man-child attempting to pretend that he is important, knows what is going on in the world and can ‘induce’ anyone/everyone to his ‘worldview’ - the problem is - that IF the US media had been the least bit partial to this moroon - 1) he wouldn’t have even been an IL Senator, much less Prezie and 2) he doesn’t even know nor care what is going on in his own country, so how does he have a clue as to the world - unless his intention is to ‘assist’ in the creation of a World Caliphate.

And didn’t I say - on September 11, 2001 - my first thought as I saw the Pentagon attack was - nuke ‘em til they glow.

Think of where America would be right now, if the evil Boooooooosh and/or Congress had been able to find a pair back then.

  8. You betcha, with BMEWS in charge, the Global War On Terror would have lasted a few hours in total.

9/12/01 - goodbye Afghanistan. And a 150 wide swath of that unruled border area in Pakistan.

9/30/01, or whenever we found that most of the 9/11 guys were from Saudi Arabia, with others from Egypt, UAE, Lebanon. Goodbye Riyadh, Buraydah, and 3 other Saudi cities not on the oil fields. Goodbye Cairo and Faiyum. Goodbye Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Goodbye Beirut and Tripoli in Lebanon.

What what what? Tehran is trying to build nukes? You want nukes? Have some of ours. Bye bye. Just like that.

3/12/04, after the Madrid bombings. 8 Random major cities across the pisslamic world, bombed flat. Y’all had better control your people and start preaching peace, love, and granola, because we’re gettin’ danged fed up.

7/7/05, after the London bombings. You guys just don’t learn, do you? Now we’re really pissed. Goodbye Mecca, goodbye Medina. Islam ruled a terrorist philosophy not a religion. Every mosque in the western world is closed, the bayonets come out, and a forced exodus of every muzzie immigrant who moved out of sandland in the last 35 years and their sprogs is enacted. “Nation of Islam” faith declared anathema and severely repressed in USA.

Boots on the ground? Oh yeah. Operation Pure Soil begins 1/1/02 and empties “Palestine”. Every neighboring jizzlamic nation is super eager to take in every last “refugee”, not just because we pay them a billion per million - in durable foodstuffs and water technology, not one cent in cash - but because we have lots more nukes.

Results? Every Miss America contestant’s dream: “whirled peas”.

    grin
