It’s a feature, not a bug.
Well I won’t have to worry about it regardless. I have a coupla programs in the background set so that NOTHING gets downloaded and NOTHING changes in the registry without me being asked if this is what I want to happen.
There’s not much point in a firewall if you tell it to just allow everything, and remember you said so. In my experience, all too many people do just that.
Grumpy, unless you are writing your own programs, you are in denial. Somebody will get through. The question is: will they do any damage?
Well I’ll grant you, it’s not 100%, nothing is. But I DO NOT set my firewall to let *anything* through without asking. And TeaTimer (part of Spybot S&D) constantly looks for changes to the registry, and doesn’t allow any changes without my approval. And I’m really anal about doing my housekeeping every couple of days. So the net result is that my 6 year old computer runs cleaner than my sister’s 6 month old one, better than any of the machines my computer tech friends have built for themselves. This was a bottom of the line machine 6 years ago, and yet it does better than all the “really good” machines around me. That’s nothing at all except keeping the crap cleaned out.
