Memorial Day Tribute: Chris Hayes

  1. Chris,

That MSNBC dude probably wore purty pink panties to his physical and kissed the (male) doctor.

Just goes to prove----He’s not only a cunt, but an ignorant one.

  2. > Honestly, can you believe an anchorman on MSNBC would say this on Memorial Day?:

    Yes, it’s MSNBC after all.

  3. Yet another reason to have compulsory military service - so pissants like this will understand what those who serve have actually gone through.

Yes, I know it wouldn’t accomplish anything - I just like the idea of a Drill Sergeant getting to take out his frustrations on a piece of sh it like this.

  4. Fark is not a bastion of deep, patriotic thinkers but they really tore Hayes apart. I have to agree - it’s MSNBC who kept Keith Olbermann until the pajama media exposed his ‘bias’ in public - so this was to be expected. I like one of the comments on the story link at Drudge - “I didn’t know Rachel Maddow had a son” - too funny.

  5. Fark did? I gotta go look at that. I wouldn’t have known about this if Drudge hadn’t had it on his site.

  6. I just checked FARK. Whoever posted that gave it the proper tag: Dumbass

Here’s a few quotes from FARKers:

Next he’ll tell you how Journalists give you the freedom of the press.
Here is my freedom of speech: Fire this blow hard.

Yea it’s not as if they done anything remarkable like O J Simpson or Rodney King. I’ll take a fallen solider myself.

I sure his parents are proud, they raised such a precious snowflake.

Fortunately, it was on MSNBC, so nobody saw it.

There are currently 534 comments on that thread. About half seem to back Chris Hayes. I challenge all of those who back Chris Hayes: Show me your DD-214. Show me you’ve earned the right to decide who’s dead hero. Show me you put your ass on the line.

  7. I was just over at Drudge looking at the link to blogs tearing Hayes apart. Some great comments - but I just realized, what liberals/leftists like this moron don’t grasp is this: The countries that these morons want America to become - pick your ism - have CONSCRIPTION - i.e. the draft! And oh, yeah, that bastion of ‘neutrality’ and peace - Switzerland - has a policy that everyone serve and keep their arms afterward. It’s bad enough that these morons have no clue about their own country and it’s history and civic past - but they don’t even know (or admit) the truth about the countries they claim that they want the US be more like.

I for one - vote for every adult American being compelled to serve - and then having to keep their arms afterward.

Bet a coward like Hayes would actually leave America and then he’d be hit between the eyes with the truth he’s never bothered to learn about all those great ‘ism’ countries.

  8. If this guy can be comfortable calling the fireman who died on 9/11 heroes then he should have no problem with using that adjective for the military. Both groups are people who do a dangerous job for your protection. The only difference is the scope and location of that protection; it’s very local and precise for the firemen, and very broad and hopefully very far away for the military.

  9. Oh, and Chris, I bet you’re giving this guy too much credit. I’d be thunderstruck to learn that he had even been in uniform. He has no DD-214.

OTOH, to be fair and balanced, Hayes is speaking about the overuse of the term hero. I CAN support his general view that it is bandied about far too often, applied to less than heroic people for merely doing their day to day activities, etc. (and let’s not forget who is overusing the term and thus diluting it: the MSM and the minions of PC)

But somewhere you have to draw a line in the sand, or perhaps two lines. A two tiered Olympian hierarchy. On the far side of the 2nd line will be the small group of people who have actually performed heroic exploits, debating amongst themselves whether the day to day activities of the professional risk takers for the public good - those on the far side of the first line in the sand - qualify as heroics in THEIR eyes. As for the rest of us, ALL these people exist across the first line simply because of the nature of their work.

  10. In other words, Hayes hasn’t earned the right to be ‘uncomfortable’ about this specific usage because he’s never AFAIK been across either line.

Now, if he was ‘uncomfortable’ about calling grade school teachers heroes because they come back year after year to face classrooms full of lead-headed screaming children, I’d tend to agree with him. And I don’t think the kid who grew up in poverty and then studied hard and got a good job and became a responsible parent is a hero either; just an American. A hero to his/her children, certainly - notice how the scope now narrows to the individual level - but just a regular decent schlub to the rest of us who are busy doing the exact same thing.

  11. Well, while we’re try to decide who’s a hero, allow me to name one who never had a DD-214. Todd Beamer was on UA Flight 93, which was hijacked on 9/11. Not too sure, but he apparently led the surviving passengers (some of who had been killed by box-cutter wielding terrorists) on a successful attempt to thwart the hijackers. His last recorded words on his cellphone were ‘Let’s Roll!’. They were successful: Flight 93 crashed in the Pennsylvania wilderness and not into the White House or Capitol Building, places thought to be the the targeted destination. He and his unknown (to me) fellow passengers are heroes.

  12. Time to shift the overeducated little snot over to Olberman’s slot on CurrentTV so that by the time Obama starts collecting his ex-President pension next year he can be learning to say, “Would you like fries with your order?”

Posted by TimO    United States   05/28/2012  at  02:19 PM

  13. TimO, I think you just insulted all the fast-food workers out there. Me included. MickyD’s was one of my first jobs. I worked the closing shift my senior year in high school. (no 24/7 MickyD’s back in ‘77-’78) I was a cook and rarely had to work the counter. But I did have to sometimes. ‘Would you want fries with your order?’ is called ‘suggestive selling.’ I bet most of us started out in some sort of fast-food business. It teaches you several valuable skills: How to deal politely with irate customers, how to give the correct change, how to promote your products (you want fries with that?).  Skills that have served me well in every job I’ve had since, including the Navy and the Postal Service.

I suspect our current President has never held such a job. He has, therefore, never learned very valuable skills. It shows.

  14. The snot has posted an apology. At first glance it looks sincere, but as you read it you see he’s really learned nothing and sorry for nothing.

  15. Lots of veterans are without a DD214.  If you served exclusively in the National Guard or Reserve you wouldn’t have a DD214 unless you served more than 90 days on active duty.  This would be common for the Cold War era pre-9/11.

A veteran is anyone, Active, Reserve, National Guard, who signed a blank check to the Republic payable on demand for his/her life.  For all of us, that check is still good and still payable on demand.

That said, Hayes wouldn’t have lasted 30 minutes in basic training or a weakend on a mech infantry live fire course or with an FA battery on a weekend shoot.  What exactly has Hayes done for the Republic?

  16. Didn’t know that about the Guard or Reserve. Thanks MAJ Mike.

You’re right. It really was a blank check. Despite having an Honorable Discharge, and a DD-214 to prove it, I’d answer the call to come back. Especially under this so-called President, whose lack of knowledge, and demonstrated stupidity, are probably going to push us into a major war. Of course, I expect this jerk to be relieved of command this November. So the coming war will be ‘Romney’s’ War, despite the fact that the cause was an unqualified, un-American, community-organizer. BTW, would somebody please show a community he organized. Show me a community that is better because of his efforts?
