  1. A few of those decorated well heads would improve the looks of the place. Maybe the guy who did the ones in Luling needs a job.

  2. The resulting “footprint” from this endeavor will no doubt have a positive impact on the environment and the locals, regardless of the doom-sayers irrational fears.

Too bad it is going to take, maybe, 5 years to get to the point of lessening our need for foreign oil.

But then...Time flies like an arrow. (fruit flies like a banana.- GM)

  3. Stanley - lol!

These idiots misrepresent the actual environmental impact that drilling will have just like they exaggerate everything else.  I have heard that some of the best-kept places in Alaska are the very places where drilling is being conducted and pipelines placed, etc.

Don’t be surprised if some of these envirowackos actually try to do some pipeline demolition ala Al Qaeda, just to prove their point.  You know the old trick, if nothing bad happens, then make something bad happen.

Anyway, I’m all for it.  ANYTHING to help this great country become even a little bit less more dependent on terrorist loving two faced towelhead in SA.

  4. Jesus, OCM I do think you are turning into a conservative in your old age. Whats up with you?

  5. Damn, riding the fence, make sure you don’t get a sore crotch.

  6. If you could hear the caribou in the picture, you’d know that the two on the far left are having the following conversation:

“Hey, Fred.  When are those oil folks s’posed to get here?”

“Dunno, Jim.  Wish they’d hurry up, though; I’m dyin’ to beg them for some Cheetos.  This fuckin’ scrub brush got old ten years ago.”

“You said it, bud!  I’d blow a seal for a PayDay.”

  7. I was curious as to actual numbers of just how dependent we are on foreign oil and just how much of that oil comes from the Saudis and their raghead brethren.  Surprisingly, I found that, in 2001 AND 2002, the single largest supplier of oil to the US was...are you ready for this?.....CANADA!!!!!

The following can be found at http://www.gravmag.com/oil.html#imports along with just about anything you would want to know about oil.

“In 2002, Canada led the world in our sources of imports, at 17%, with Saudi Arabia (13.7%), Mexico (13.5%), and Venezuela (12%) in a virtual three-way tie for second. The year before the percentages were Canada - 15.4%, Saudi Arabia - 14%, Venezuela - 13%, and Mexico - 12.1%. Canada has been the leader since at least 2001. In 2002, US imports from the Persian Gulf region amounted to 19.8 percent of our total imports. The same year, a total of 40% came from OPEC member nations—which include countries such as Venezuela and Indonesia that are outside the Persian Gulf.”

Here ae some current figures through Dec. 2004:
    http://www.eia.doe.gov/pub/oil_gas/petroleum/data_publications/company_level_imports/current/import.html

Total Imports of Petroleum (Top 15 Countries)
    (Thousand Barrels per Day)
    Country Jan-05 Dec-04 YTD 2005 Jan-04 Jan - Dec 2004

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    CANADA 2,123 2,143 2,123 2,185 2,118
    SAUDI ARABIA 1,632 1,502 1,632 1,477 1,556
    VENEZUELA 1,573 1,581 1,573 1,535 1,521

    KUWAIT 203 219 203 244 250
    COLOMBIA 150 165 150 287 168

And then I find that the largest oil reserves are in....you guessed it...CANADA!!!
    http://www.gasandoil.com/goc/news/ntn20664.htm

This source shows Saudi as having the largest reserves, but does not take into account the “oil sands” scattered about the tundra:  http://www.mapsofworld.com/world-top-ten/world-top-ten-oil-reserves-countries-map.html

The bottom line is this:  The war in Iraq being for oil is nonsense.  It is a lot cheaper and easier to pay some oil and gas attorneys to work a deal (like the French, Russians, and Germans) that circumvented the now infamous “Oil-for-Food” program.  However, if you do your own Google search on “Caspian Sea Oil” you will find out about the pipeline proposal to backdoor oil from the region into the EU through the old Balkan states (Bosnia?  Kosovo?  Placating the muslims?  Anybody?  Buehler?....Buehler?), and that puts our presence in the region into a whole new light.

  8. We have got to get those damned Canadians promoted to the “Axis of Evil”.

  9. Stan, Canucks in general are quite happy being in the “Axis Of Dumbass” which also includes Mexico and Sweden.

The “Axis Of Weasels” is France, Germany and Russia.

The “Axis Of Communists” includes Cuba, Vietnam and China.

The “Axis Of Evil” is currently down one member but Syria has applied for membership with Iran and North Korea.

These are the semi-finalists in March Madness, Eastern Division.

The top teams from these four divisions will face finalists from the Western Division: the United States Army, the United States Air Force, the United States Marines/Navy and Britain (the “Allies") in the finals.

Tip-off is at 8:00pm EST on ESPN.

  10. The University of Texas just got beat by Nevada. Salutations to Steel.

Allan, are you going to publish my fine bit of reportage about RIFRAF? I have expended quite a lot of effort and expense to bring this story to the members of BMEWS. To date:

    .  Package of Saltine Crackers = $.69
    .  Can of Vienna Sausages = $1.19
    .  Pint of Bourbon = $8.95
    .  Membership to http://www.live-shot.com = $14.95
    .  Shooting Session = $5.95

I can understand why you might be a bit squeamish on this topic, but your members deserve to know the truth about this new technology.

Anyone who can piss off PETA and the NRA all at the same time is a force to be reckoned with.
