  1. As Rush Limbaugh says,“WORDS MEAN THINGS” The fact that RINOS say them mean Nothing!!!  Add Donks to that also!!!

  2. At least we will be safer on the roads today since all of these illegal mexicans will be staying home boycotting and not driving around without a driver’s license and no insurance.

  3. Don’t show for work?  In the immortal words of Donald Trump - “You’re fired.” To that I would add “Adios MF.”

Seems to me also that Cargill & others of their ilk would be a good place to re-start enforcement of the law with arrests, deportations and fines for the employers.

bat - The words seem to mean nothing, they are intended to mean “I’m from the government and I’m going to help you” in order to buy votes.  Unfortunately, the words of the RINOs and Donks actually mean “you’re screwed” to mainstream America IMHO.

  4. One day? Big whoop. Working Americans will pull together to pick up the slack the same way they do during times of disaster and terrorism. This boycott is gonna fall flat on its face.

    nah-nah

  5. OK, whatever negative dollar impact there is needs to be billed to the organizers of these events (someone is organizing them, and it should not be too difficult to figure out who).  Let them go and ask for donations from the illegals they represent to pay the fine and see if they can explain themselves.

It will never happen, but one can dream.

  6. Me?  I’m all for the “Day Without Immigrants.” Why? Because, as Jester pointed out, any slack will be picked up...any negative economic impact will be made up over the next week and won’t measure on any long-term indicators.  And if we are to believe the streotypes about Hispanic workers, its not like them missing work or not doing work will be different from any other day (I submit the BRAC closure of Kelly AFB as proof to that end).  In other words, this thing will fall flat on its face.  And I can only PRAY that someone involved in these “marches” steps out of line and start vandalizing or getting violent.

I honestly think that these folks should make a REAL impact and try a “Year Without Immigrants.” I’d be ALL for that.  And while I’m on the subject, do y’all think that these Hispanic “protestors” will also boycott social service offices and hospitals today (yeah, right....)?

p.s. - My wife just emailed me.  She says that they’re having a hard time finding an open taco stand to buy tacos for her staff meeting.  I’m not kidding!  I hope good ol’ San Antone can make it a day without the taco stands...hahahaha! LOL

  7. Watch them get concessions from both parties at every level of government. Watch all the bloated sacks of pus in DC turn themselves inside out trying to create doublespeak that pacifies the other 290 million folks in this country and totally caves to this group’s twisted demands. I’m really beginning to feel that the real lesson of the late 20th and early 21st centuries is “the squeaky wheel gets the grease”. It doesn’t matter whether the issue is right or wrong; just make noise and the world-wide mommy state will pander to you. Terrorists, affirmative action, schools budgets, you name it; all they have to do is cry loud enough and they win. The cult of victimology has usurped the planet.

  8. Drew, why did you have to go and say that?  Here I was trying to find a positive about today and you had to slap me in the face with the cold, hard, brutal reality of it all.  I think I will find a quiet corner to go mope in now.
(Just kidding, Drew - your analysis of the situation, as always, is spot on.  two_thumbs_up )

  9. Shinjin -

Sorry, but Pollyanna sat on my rose colored glasses and broke them. More than anything I want to BELIEVE, with all the passion and fire a tent preacher can muster. And I’m eager to work the work and fight the good fight to make it happen. But as hard as I keep clicking my heels together and saying the magic mantra, nothing seems to happen other than me getting sore feet. I need to see a little bit of righteous miracle once in a while.

I’m going out to the garage to load up another couple of boxes of rhino ammo. WTH. Not that I could find a rino here in NJ if I tried. Oooh, did I spell that wrong? cool mad

  10. These aren’t terrorists, but I don’t think we should give into the demands of whoever is or will be representing “the illegals”. Hopefully, we aren’t going to see a brown ‘Jesse Jackson’ emerge (omeone who doesn’t really do anything except advocate and collect fees.)
That said, I teach high school science in South Florida.
About half to two-thirds of my classes were out today. This was allegedly done to protest “the new law” with the rest in “solidarity”. As for how many actually went to march and how many went to the beach, I’ll have to wait until I see their suntans.
I had a girl tell me, “you couldn’t work in the field picking!” I agreed, saying, “I have an education and useful set of skills, why would I want to pick fruit?” Her response was, “see?”

  11. "Couldn’t”, Mars? No, wouldn’t. There is a huge gulf there. But you could if you had to. She can’t see that with her childish horizons so close to the end of her nose.

[deleted rant about pinheaded HR folks who widdle on about diversity but can’t understand that someone can have a complex and unrelated skillset.]

  12. Couldn’t or wouldn’t? I’m not sure I COULD get a job with the guys doing the hiring given my qualifications and appearance. The student wouldn’t want to be picking vegies either. Indeed, she fancies a life of leisure (some of which is spent in my class). Her parents are pickers apparently because they lack the skills to do other higher paying jobs.
