Man stabs to death teenage boy trying to burgle his house. ( Bout time we had good news. )

Just some of the everyday headlines here, and they point their snooty noses at us in the states and say we’re “violent.”

Boy, 17, arrested over stabbing of 18-year-old in London

Twelve teens in custody over stabbing

Teenager stabbed to death in violent attack

Teenage footballer stabbed to death outside London nightclub

Three men held over boy’s death in park

Policeman dies after assault in London suburb

And that’s only a tiny fraction, a sampling if you will.

  2. Nice to know that someone in Britain has a pair of clangers.  To quote an old friend of mine about knife fighting:  “I just don’t like being that close to someone I’d want to kill.” It’s up close and personal, not remote and dehumanized.

Now, the other side.  The police have already arrested the hero of the story.  The man’s house was invaded, while he was there.  I’d say that that makes a pretty reasonable case for fearing for your life and therefore having the right to defend yourself, even kill.  Even here in California it does.  Paragraph 2 states that the police arrested the man who defended himself.  It also goes on to say that he man had an “association with the house.” Now that’s really odd.  I thought I was the only one who had an association with his home.  Who knows, maybe man #2 was just the first burgler in and was defending his swag against some usurpers.  What other reason could the police have for arresting someone acting in self defense?  Silly me, I forgot that they arrested the granny with the knitting needle and the farmer defending himself in his house too.  I must remember, self defense is against the law, at least in Britain.

  3. We’re witnessing the death throes of a once grand civilization. Very sad. Probably happen here in the States in another generation.

I remember in the mid 70’s a London bobby rode with my wingman (we worked high crime areas) while visiting his relatives in Syracuse. He was an extrememly pleasant fellow and he enjoyed his eight hour lark with us in the tenderloin district. I asked him about patroling unarmed and he said he preferred it that way. That there was a “gentleman’s agreement” so to speak between criminals and the constabulary. I guess that has changed. Other than that our professional concerns and beefs were amazingly the same.

  4. The burglar’s accomplices will get a slap on the wrist and government aid to deal with the PTSD of seeing their fellow scumball get his just desserts.  The homeowner will spend the next 10 plus years in prison.  Shameful.

  5. For a Gentleman’s Agreement to work, there must be gentlemen (and ladies).
