  1. They must be hard up for good looking women in the UK. Here in the USA we’d describe mother and daughter in terms of a poker hand - a pair of fives. Not bad, but nothing really great.

I don’t ride trains or subways, so it’s hard for me to imagine a conductor having to walk the whole length of a train, both sides, to make sure nobody is leaning against one of the cars taking a nap. Talk about eating up time.

My guess is that the little partier passed out and fell under, and her yob friends couldn’t be bothered to tell anyone.

  2. Drew, they only load from one side and are quite short, usually 3 or 4 cars in a straight line. So the guard stands on one end and looks down the line of cars, then gives the OK. Not a hard job, when the doors close, people usually move away from the train. Tragic accidents, her mom will probably get a hugh windfall from her daughter’s “Darwin Moment.”

  3. Ok, now that I’ve followed the link and read the article, I’ve done a complete about face. Not only is the train a subway train, it’s a ridiculously short one of only one car, or perhaps two really short ones. And the platform is otherwise deserted, and we can see Miss Boozer hanging from the window frame ... probably talking to someone inside?

So if it is his job to take a look to see if the side of the coach is clear before pulling out, then in truth he did screw up royally.

Still though, 5 years seems excessive, even if he’ll be out in 18 months. And us, never having seen the 30 seconds of CCTV footage, will never know if he DID look, saw things were in the clear, and THEN she grabbed on to the window.

PS - and if I had a 16 year old daughter, she’d never get past the front door in that little “goin’ ho-in” outfit.

  4. 5 Years stikes me as excessive. This is a clear cut case of Darwin in action. As the tannoy says on the London Underground “mind the gap”

  5. Some jobs just aren’t worth the pay stub really. This is one of them.

  6. And her blood results didn’t sway the morons (for the judge that is completely redundant) at all? Really - it is becoming that the individual has no responsibility at all for themselves and when they do a ‘case of Darwin in action’ - it is someone else s FAULT?

If this is progress - give me the good ole days. And the taxes and less government that goes with it.
