  1. Tougher penalties?  There’s no tougher penalty than your “Darwinian Ticket” getting punched.  I wonder how lawmakers think they’re going to top that?

Besides which, laws being made for case instances of utter stupidity are bad laws.  There will always be stupid people finding stupid ways to get killed.  No law can change that.

  2. Yup.  Darwin-At-Work.

I feel bad for the train drivers; they have to endure the squish.

But the gate jumpers???  They deserve what they get and the gene pool will be better off without them....

  3. Man, that train took the goof’s shoe right off.
I’ll bet the guys who power wash the trains get some interesting smears… talk about a RR crossing smoothie. The worst we get is when the semis roll over some drunk on the interstate and the guy gets wrapped around the dually axles. Sort of like running over an M&M made out of sausages.

    Hmmmm .. sausages.

  4. Sig we used to get a few of those in immigration. We call ‘em “axle-grabbers” though that term was dropped as it was deemed “insensitive” Every now and then one of them would be found squished on the M20 or the A16 in Calais. I wouldn’t mind but they would close the road of (in Britain) for hours. As for the morons who dodge trains. Argentium is right. There is already an offence of railway trespass. In Bliars (now Brown’s) Britain these clowns are too quick to bring in new laws. The statistics on just how many new laws these control freaks have already passed is scary btw. So let nature take it’s course and weed out the unworthy.

  5. Heh, axle grabbers. We had some of our patrolmen get sent to “dude school” as we called it, i.e. cultural sensativity training, so they wouldn’t yell impolite things over the air or at suspects when they got excited, like during a chase. “Dude” was one of the impolite words that the admin wanted to eliminate. Didn’t really work though. Yardbird was another. And they will never get rid of a**hole.

“So let nature take it’s course and weed out the unworthy” heh and the unwary ... cool grin

There should be signs that read:

    !!ATTENTION!!
    Darwin Work Zone
    All Penalties Are Assessed Immediately
    Your DNA Will Be Cancelled!!

  6. And why don’t ppl look two ways first? Aren’t we taught that as kids? First thing.
    CLOSE CALL

    It can get confusing.

Here in the US we are indeed taught to look both ways. Left, Right, Left again. Why? Because we drive on the right (RIGHT) side of the road. In crossing the street, the traffic is going to come from the left.

This is totally wrong where Britain is concerned. Most current or former British colonies drive on the wrong side of the road. You must look Right, Left, and Right again. This almost got me run over a number of times in Singapore, Australia, and Pakistan. Former British colonies where the rules are backwards.

What confuses me is why America, as former British colonies, don’t drive on the wrong side of the road also. Ditto for Canada. I’ve driven in Canada, I don’t recall any problems from driving on the wrong side of the road.
