  1. Wait until they find out that some normal pistol bullets (besides the FN 5.7) will penetrate body armor.

The whole armor piercing/cop killer/whatever argument has turned into an insane word game.  I’m sure you followed the adventures of the SIG arm brace.  It’s legal as long as it doesn’t touch your shoulder.  The real argument isn’t about armor piercing or forward hand grips or very large magazines, it’s about people who don’t think The People should be permitted to have effective personal weapons.

  2. Yeah, we’re the water carriers.  Have you ever noticed how the big, well paid names (with a very few exceptions like Krauthammer) are rarely cited as idea men and rarely are the first with a piece of important news?  Just reading the Daily Mail, I’m often two days to a week ahead of the U.S. media.

Small and unknown we may be, but people are paying attention.  I got curious about the site meter.  I’m still trying to decipher what some of it means, but two things struck me.

1.) The number one state that reads BMEWS is California.  Trust me, we’ve got some real huddled masses yearning to breath free.
2.) We have regular hits from a number of Islamic countries.  Not just countries where we have military bases, places where the locals check us out.

Overall, we have a modest readership, but they’re regular.  Something else I’m curious about is why so few people comment, Liberal or Conservative.  It’s been years since I remember a Liberal showing up to debate anything and he turned into a Troll pretty quick.

One thing almost no one speaks of is that Liberals and Conservatives/Libertarians rarely speak to each other, let alone have a healthy debate.  Even the “best” Liberals quickly degenerate to polite name calling.  The rest start with the Race Card and quickly transition from the gutter to the sewer.

Sometimes I’ll read Liberal blogs and news sources.  Those guys believe their own press releases!  I have trouble following them because most of the time they have only a tenuous connection to reality.

  3. Comments generally follow the “1% of the 1%” rule. 1000 people visit, 100 people actually read the posts fully (who has the time after all?), 10 people think about responding, 1 person actually makes the effort to type in a comment. This is how it is.

Worse, this blog runs on really old software because it would be a huge project to transfer to a new blog package. After all these years, we’ve got tens of thousands of posts. Yikes. Anyway, you have to log in here to leave a comment, because Captcha simply does not work on EE 1.2 or whatever the primitive version of the software is. And that means you have to have an account ... which a couple thousand people do. But it’s a hassle for most folks, so they don’t bother. I wish I could make it easier, but I don’t think I can. I’ve even tried to figure out how to turn off the logging in bit. Can’t do it. Crap. Sorry.

Yes, it’s been a while since we had some “lively” debate going. Turtler, Tannenburg, Yellow Dog, OCM and several other used to voice alternate opinions, but weren’t always treated well. And I had to burn one of them when his contrary opinion was expressed by calling one of a us a traitor for living overseas. Unacceptable. So it’s a balancing act, and a time consuming one, playing Comment Mommy to the arguing kids.
