PS - Not to be outdone, a couple American companies make kits that let you modify your pistol into a small rifle of legal American length. Mech Tech’s kit can turn your 1911 pistol into a .460 Rowland rifle and get better than .44 Magnum performance in a rifle that only weighs 4 lbs but has the power to hunt bears with. And you can make it as “tactical” looking as you want. If you mount the wire frame stock it will meet the UK regulations.

What planet is Mr. Gable living on? His opinion of the behavior of gun owners is so different from anything I have ever seen, it makes me question his sanity, his agenda or both. It would seem that he wants an unarmed populace who will do what they’re told. Fascist, Socialist, Communist, who cares, they are all types of government that can only stay in power by oppressing their citizens.
When I tell a “liberal” that without the 2nd Amendment, there is no First, they get quite indignant saying that the government would never limit free speech or the press (or religion for that matter). What do I want to do they ask, have an armed insurrection against the federal government? They just can’t seem to get out of the thought of violence as the way to solve problems. But I digress. It was not the government who blew up churches in Birmingham, Alabama. It wasn’t the government who killed Dr. King. It was good old fashioned domestic terrorists. Check around the black folks who witnessed the period. You’ll find some interesting stories of holding off the local Klansmen with a shotgun. There are very few of them, but they are out there. Memory tells me that Condoleeza Rice’s father was one of them, but I could be mistaken. Like the saying goes, criminals prefer unarmed victims.

Father killed and son injured in drive-by shooting
A 50-year-old man has been killed and his son critically injured in a drive-by shooting in London, police have said. Two men on a motorbike pulled up outside a convenience store in Holloway, north London, and shot the two victims before riding off.Streets need to be made safe and that’s the bottom line. Therefore I propose an immediate confiscation of all guns of any kind as well as bow and arrows and sling shots and anything else that anyone can think of that is either lethal or may otherwise cause even a minor boo-boo. Furthermore I suggest we take seriously Wardmom’s proposal re doctors and would it not be safer if everyone were made to walk not to mention the carbon footprint thing and so no horses and no cars. Ban bikes too btw.

Oh, not making fun and is serious. In an accident this wkend a young kid of 17 was killed by an air rifle in his back yard. (garden to Brits). He’d been target shooting and they aren’t certain yet exactly how it happened but are satisfied there was no foul play.This isn’t the first serious injury due to air guns. Bet the powers that be might try to tighten regs. to acquire same now.

You are right. Which is why I support banning motorcycles in the UK. This crime would not have happened if there were no motorcycles. We should ban convenience stores as well. They attract the wrong element like moths to a candle.

I think it’s very funny that the only kind of pistol that is now legal in the UK is EXACTLY the kind of firearm that would get your ass tossed in jail ultra-fast in the USA. A pistol with a 10” barrel and a heavy wire arm brace or a mounted shoulder stock that gives an overall length of just 24” is what ATF calls a Short Barreled Rifle, and a Class III/Title II permit is required. Or else.
Cmblake you have indeed hit the money quote though I would say for different reasons. What we have here is a socialist supporter linking the possession of firearms to a right wing party (the British National Party)
Personally I despise the BNP because the bottom line is they are socialists themselves. Nationalist rather than International if you catch my drift. They have some odious racial views. However an election is looming in Britain and Labour (International socialists) are going to be wiped out in many places and the party that ironically is taking the votes away from them is the BNP. So they are desperate to tar them with something unpleasant like Dunblane for example. The fact that these guns have been legal to own has not bothered the socialists up until the point when the economy went down the pan and their support plummeted.
Section 1 firearms contrary to what you may have been told are still legal, this includes centrefire and rimfire rifles and the guns described in the article as well as shotguns with a magazine capacity of more than two rounds. You can also hold blackpowder pistols with normal length barrels if you have a firearms certificate. Shotguns with a 3 shot capacity can be held by anyone with a shotgun certificate. basically it means someone from the Home Offiice checks with your doctor that you are not a whacko and that you have adequate secure storage. The police in general have promoted politically correct left leaning leaders who by and large hate gun owners and would if they could abolish any gun ownership but the Conservative party have plenty of shooting and fishing enthusiasts who would over turn any such nonsense. The ban on handguns coincided with the election that resulted in the chief snake oil saleslime Tony Blair who ensured that hand guns would be banned. However they were too stupid to frame the law such that it would ban “handguns” with long barrels.
Drew I suspect a lot of control freaks (bansturbators) in Britain and the EU would love to ban motorcycles if they could. Ironically if the police had enforced existing laws prior to Dunblane then Hamilton would not have had his guns seized after he discharged a shotgun in the street. However this gets into the realms of conspiracy theory. I recommend you look at the role of the judiciary and the fact that the records were sealed for 100 years.
I meant to say if the police had enforced the existing law they would have taken Hamilton’s guns away after he fired his twelve guage in the street. They would also have taken away his firearms license.
Dunblane is intresting, the local scout master refused hamilton as he was so blatantly unstable but after that the local chief of police issued gun permits, he has the blood on his hands, should have been held as accesssory but still has high paid job and pension, he should have lost both. The BNP should be quite usefill if they get enough seats because the posing tossers pretending to run the country will have to choose, either they carry on and England gets a BNP government, that would be ok by me, or the Tories have to become conservatives and win support by having policies untainted by socialism. This is win win in my books.
