5. I’m with Rickvid and Lurk.  Barksdale AFB, Bossier City, LA.

   No BUFFs at Offutt, only those weird RJ’s and airborne command post types....

6. Although the President did end up at Offutt later that day...primarily ‘cuz of the connections.  If you can’t talk to it from the STRATCOM Command Center, it can’t be talked to.

   Ctomrun wins the Golden Compass Trophy today, gents. That is indeed Offut AFB, where they filmed “Dr. Strangelove”. Bush did stop at Barksdale first to go on TV and reassure the nation but then he flew on to Offut where one of the command and control centers in the event of nuclear war is located. Offut was once the center of SAC, thanks to General Curt LeMay in 1948.

10. As far as I know, Offutt never had B-52’s based there, even though it was SAC Headquarters.
