Yep, that is indeed RAF Mildenhall in beautiful Suffolk, England. It used to be home to the largest military show in Europe before funds ran out and the annual show was canceled. In World War II, allied bombers flew over 8,000 sorties out of here and dropped over 28,000 tons of bombs to blast the bejeezus out of Hitler’s Thousand Year Reich.

Tankers flew out of here during Operation El Dorado Canyon to refuel the bombers on the way to Libya to send a little present to Muhammar Kaddafi from President Reagan. Tankers were needed because the bombers had to detour around Fwance (FARKIN’ FROGS!) and fly out over the Atlantic then circle back in to cross Spain and finally across the Med to Libya.

  6. Skipper, In your travels around Google Earth, have you seen the Lancaster bomber in flight over Huntington, England, north of London?  It’s at 52 20 10.87N 0 11 43.34W.
