  1. Skipper,

I think you are approaching Wake Island facility.  Not 100% positive, but it sure does look right in my memory.

  2. I second Diego Garcia.

  3. Yep, that is Diego Garcia. You are flying in from the Northwest, maybe just back from Iraq or Afghaninstan. You guys are too fast for me again. I gotta figure out a way to make this more difficult.

  4. Comrades,

Yep… Diego garcia. Been there. Done that.

When I was there, morale was pretty doggone good… ‘course, I was deployed with my squadron for a short duration det, but all in all, it wasn’t bad duty. You just had to really make sure you had a good navigator..... and plenty of gas, since we (P-3’s) didn’t have the ability to refuel in flight.

    Respects,

  5. That second picture is odd.  Hard to tell, but it looks like that lawn dart driver has his canopy about a foot or two from the ‘135’s wingtip.  Either he’s real confused about how that boom works, or the ‘135 guys have figured out a way to refuel from the wingtips—besides the new drogue system that’s getting fitted to the wings of some ‘135’s.

  6. Proof that bureaucratic stupidity has existed for a while now:

One of my Navy buddies was arrested for drunk driving on the “Dago”. It cost him a promotion and a couple months half pay.

    He was riding a bicycle.

Naah, long lens, long distance, and importantly wide open iris (they are above the clouds, its VERY bright up there) extreme depth of field, flattens the image.
