1. Not too much is louder than a .357 in an enclosed space, like a garage.  Be sure you wear your shooting muffs, eh?

2. No regular patrols and right by a freeway?? Sounds like you’re just asking for it.

   Down here in Florida the gangs from nearby cities regularly troll the freeway communities.
   Apparently for some it was an initiation rite to pop over to another town, hit the houses along the freeway and then scoot back to home turf before the law could come out.

   Night-vision CCTV cameras would help and not be very expensive and you could always organize a ‘citizens patrol’… a couple of months of neighbors walking the area would deter the goons enough to make them list your apartments as ‘not easy pickins’.....
