  3. I dunno...I have a feeling that South Sudan (or whatever it calls itself) will last about twice as long as the Paleostinian State…

About thirty minutes. Then the Mohammedans will attack. Just watch.

  4. Wrong part of the world to be one of the -stans.

Not sure how the oil situation is going to play out. Will there be revenue sharing? Will such a contract become void once the new country is formed? I don’t have the answers. I can’t say if the killers in the north will respect the border, but if an actual UN-recognized national border comes into existence, then any kind of fighting would be a war between nations, not just an internal conflict. And that means that maybe you can bring the big boys and their toys in to fix the problem for you?

I think that a Christian nation forming in that part of the world would almost have to be pro-Western by definition. Certainly it would behoove them to be so politically. With some kind of revenue stream and some arable irrigated land, they might even be able to feed themselves. I’d like to be able to hold onto a straw or two of hope for these people; forming a new country and migrating some survivors out of the Darfur area ends the genocide there as well.

The downside is that the new country will be completely surrounded by insane arabs and insane africans. Muslim crazy types in Northern Sudan, warlords and other crazy types in Somalia, plus all the other usual corrupt and heartless thugs that form so much of Africa. So I don’t expect the country to survive for long, which is why I suggested that they take a name out of history to add a little polish to their brief moment in the sun. More power to them if they can make a go of it and resist invasion and dictatorship, and somehow use religious commonality to rise above tribalism. But in the long run the cards are stacked against them, and without a sea port they are at the total mercy of their neighbors. As the saying goes, “Africa wins again”.
