The car is SOOO!! cool! I put many many many miles one one exactly as you have pictured, same color and everything. Me and some buddies got drunk in Mexico once and crashed the car into some roadside reflectors. It ruined the hood and put the nicest “V” dead center in the front.
It wound up as a pretty nice dune buggy running on South Padre Island beaches for the remainder of its life. Sweet memory.
I had it’s older brother, a Type-3 1600 sedan. Same chassis as yours but with a sedan-style body. Lots of fun with that one also. Open the trunk and no motor; open the front hood and no motor. After some SOB hit the passenger side and peeled it like a sardine can, I took the motor out and built a Baha buggie with it. Had that for a few more years.
