  1. With the Internet you can buy ammo and such - without local anti-gunners involved. But in the end - this is like all gun control (and most liberal legislation) punish the law abiding for the acts of the criminals.

  2. If you want to tax the proper parties responsible for violence and death, take that figure, divided it by the number of convicted felons, and whatever total it is, bill them their “fair share”.  Tack it onto their court costs and fines, and what they can not afford from there, withhold prison services until the fine is fully paid.  Less food, less laundering, and put them to work if need be to make up the cost.

After all, the state needs its money, why not get it from the thugs that are causing this expense, as opposed to the innocent taxpayers and gun owners who have done nothing wrong?

  3. Or just go to the local recycling center and buy your own brass, get some lead from wherever and make your own tax free.
Which is even better because you can make rounds that go Bang instead of the oem pop.

  4. 1. Vermont has no carry permits because the state constitution supports gun rights. Carrying a firearm is a right, not a privilege. A resident can just go the the store & buy a pistol, only Federal laws apply.  We have a very low violent crime rate & shootings still make the news, including the subsequent funerals.  This may change as the nanny-state virus so prevalent in NY is slowly infecting our politicians.
    2. There seems to be general unwillingness to recognize that gun-free zones are the most dangerous places in the country after disregarding hazardous sports and hobbies.
    3. Interesting comment re making ammunition in a culture that is unaware & lazy. Notice how many feet of super market shelving is taken up by salad greens already washed & “ready to use” and how people are willing to sell quarters at 4 for about 91 cents rather count & roll them into the free wrappers the bank provides.
The youth of Americas find it difficult to believe that real people built real things in garages and workshops using real tools without computers. The concept that Apple started in a garage by people using a soldering iron is unthinkable to them.
