Software change or not, the scanner still collects the original naked image to process, and this image could be hacked and saved.
The bigger issue is that many scanners use ionizing radiation and have not been tested and approved by federal agencies charged with radiation safety.
I still think the ultimate solution to airline security is to allow anyone who wants to carry a sidearm to do so. The TSA could issue frangible ammo in whatever caliber the passenger needs, if there really is any chance of a handgun bullet doing real damage to a plane.
The best security solution would be, Fire the TSA and hire human beings with a minimum high school education. Using the chimps just ain’t working.
