Less Guns, More Shooting

Is the ban on guns in D.C. effective?  Duh.

  1. In a discussion with a decent-sort-of-guy-but-still-moonbat co-worker, he broached a similar argument.  That is, places like New York City, Chicago and Washington, D. C. have such high violent crime rates due to the importation of ‘illegal guns’ from other jurisdictions with softer gun control laws.

So then I asked him why those ‘other jurisdictions with softer gun control laws’ didn’t have the high violent crime rates of the places in question.  He rather quickly replied, “Who says they don’t?”

I laughed and pointed out that’s where the discussion began; to explain why strict gun control laws generate high crime rates.  He locked up.

So, remember the question:  If Washington, D. C. has a high violent crime rate because of illegal guns being imported from - say Virginia, why doesn’t Virginia have the high violent crime rate of Washington, D. C.?

The authorities of NYC claim Georgia sells handguns ‘easily’ and they are to blame for NYC’s violent crime rate.  So why doesn’t Georgia have the violent crime rate of NYC?

Just be prepared:  If you ask this of a liberal moonbat (but I repeat myself) don’t expect much of an answer.  If they have the time, they’ll simply produce an overweight hysterical woman sobbing and screaming, “A gun killed my baby!”

  2. Good one Archie. I’ll remember that for next time.

The “illegal guns available nearby” position is so weak ... because anybody can get in a car and drive as far as they want to get them somewhere else. And that’s ignoring that the ‘easy’ puchase elsewhere is likely illegal.

This “news” article is a rubber stamp of the left’s “logic”: overwhelming evidence shows that their position is totally wrong, but the “question remains unanswered” because they refuse to accept reality. This is the exact same mindset that was running around screaming “no evidence, no evidence” several years ago. It is the mindset of a scared little child at bedtime who “knows” that the monsters under the bed go away if you pull the covers over your head. Can I coin it as ostrich-ism? Or how about “ostrichtic” which is hard to say but sounds a lot like autistic?

  3. Very good argument, Archie. And actually, there’s no argument to it. Which makes it such a good argument.

  4. brought to you by the same people who cannot figure out how the crime rate can go down while prison population is up.  Study Finds 2.6% Increase In U.S. Prison Population
