  1. “If you combined Truman, Roosevelt and Kennedy you’d get .... George W. Bush, you asshats”

Yep, Truman’s honesty and toughness, Roosevelt’s willingness to tackle problems and Kennedy’s economic policy.

I must admit I never thought of it that way, Skipper. He could do worse than emulate Truman’s language too. Harry would call a sonofabitch a sonofabitch from time to time.

Can you just see the MSM wetting themselves if Dubya let loose on ‘em? LOL Maybe someday....

  2. E.J wrote, “They may be publicly castigating their national chairman, Howard Dean. But wherever two or more Democrats are gathered privately, their instinct is to blame John Kerry first.”

This is kind of scary that Liberals are saying the same thing as Republicans.  Basically, the Democratic leadership sucks.

  3. Okay, OCM, what qualities of LBJ, Quayle and Bush Sr would you say he exhibits? (yeah, I know I’m asking for an OCM screed, but I’ll risk it)

I’ve never been a party hack. I consider myself independent and have never voted a straight ticket in my life. The truth be known I would have given Joe Lieberman strong consideration had the Dums not shuffled him off to the sidelines in favor of the “haunted tree”.

  4. "If you combined Truman, Roosevelt and Kennedy you’d get .... George W. Bush, you asshats! Bwah-hah-ha-ha ....”

If only the man could talk in public.  That is my one complaint about him.

OldCat; I voted FOR George W the second time.  The first time it was a vote against Al Gore.

  5. Yeah, Quayle had that deer in the headlights quality. BTW, it was potato - potatoe. I still don’t know how he got into the national spotlight. He was a small fish in the small pond of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, a spear carrier in the Senate.

LBJ was a slime and thought everybody had a price just because he did. He was the consumate politician but no statesman. LBJ would tell you what he thought you wanted to hear. What worked for him in Congress didn’t work overseas. I don’t see anything LBJ like about Dubya, other than Texas. I think he’s sincere, LBJ wasn’t.

Yeah, Sr was much more polished and a better speaker. I cringe when I hear Dubya speaking, just waiting for his next gaffe or mispronunciation. He’s not comfortable and you can tell by the way he is careful with his e n u n c i a t i o n that he knows it’s a problem.

I’m pretty certain he’s not going to be redefining sex and the meaning of ‘is’ though. That guy was and is glib.

I’m not comfortable speaking publicly either. Even when I know exactly what I’m talking about. Sometimes things just come out wrong. The possibility is increased by the number of listeners. What can I say?

Oh, and Jimmy Carter still says ‘nukular’ and he was a ‘nukular’ propulsion engineer. Not that I’m holding Jimmy up as a good example of anything. Just pointing out that nobody gave him any shit about it.

  6. Stink,

I watched an amateurish documentary taken of Dubya during his first campaign.  Much of it was taken on the plane.  In one scene someone asks Dubya a question which is inaudible, but you can clearly hear him answer with “Oh, what an asshole!” I thought to myself… yep..  I like you.  I wish he would drop the F-bomb so the MSM could go nuts.  Maybe he could say something like… “Those fucking Eyeranians and their newcuelar shit… damn I’m tiarrd of them.”

  7. I recall an incident that during the 2000 campaign, Dubya spotted a reporter in the crowd: He turned to Cheney and said “There’s Adam Clymer—major league asshole—from the New York Times,” and Cheney agreed: “Yeah, big time,”

The Gore campaign and the press in general went nuts. LOL

I call it definition of charachter.
