1. Please be aware that the Nazis were LEFT WINGERS. Do not eat the brown acid the evil leftist meme. It is a bad trip man lie, that every branch of the media has swallowed without question.

   (National) Socialist German Worker’s Party. Nazis. Socialist racist tyrannists. NOT Conservatives, not Republicans, not BNP or English Defense League, not even Tories, not believers in free enterprise, limited government, and nearly unlimited human rights.

   The only people to the left of the Nazis were the Soviet commies, and maybe Il Duce and the fascists. Maybe, maybe not. Fine shades of difference.

   There are now none, nor have their ever been, any right wing Nazis. Oxymoronic concept.

2. Well, maybe I misunderstood the history I read on the subject. Not hard to do considering how damned convoluted things got.
   The Socialist in National Socialist was not taken to the extremes or even seriously by Hitler, who was after all an opportunist. When he purged the party in the Night of the long knives, and had Ernst Rohm killed, he effectively destroyed the entire left wing of the NSDAP.  Of which Rohm was head. Rohm didn’t think the party was left enough, and wanted Hitler to go more in that direction. Something the army and the leading industrialists of Germany would not have agreed to. Racist, yes. Tyrants, yeah. But deeply nationalist. Anyway, the party started out very left to be sure. With 6 members. But once AH took control, everything changed. And it changed to suit his beliefs which often defied labels like left and right. As for tyranny and limited government, if you view the photos of the period, not many Germans viewed it that way. They worshiped Hitler (in the beginning and while they were winning) and his crack down on the unions was seen a positive, which in the circumstances it was.

   A good many of those who joined the party were very conservative folks. They saw no conflict with being a conservative and a member of a party that promised to right wrongs and rebuild the country. 

   btw ... nearly unlimited human rights wasn’t a rallying cry anywhere in Europe in the 30s, and I don’t think it was even a concept except perhaps, in the minds of liberal Jewish intellectuals. And sadly, many of them were either left thinking or members of the Communist Party, at least until the German/Soviet Non Aggression Pact.
