law and disorder and student protests make their point by attacking police and causing damage

From a comment made at the Telegraph ...

And these people want degrees???
If you want a degree pay for it. You don’t have to startt paying back the loan until you reach a certain amount in salary. (Fair)
If you really want a degree then you’ll find a way to pay for it, if you don’t then you won’t waste three years off your life (Sensible)
If you are worried about debt, get a job whilst you study. (Life lesson in compromise, work ethic, balancing commitments)
I know some students that only attend 10 hours of lectures per week!!!
Why do this generation think everything should be handed to them on a plate.
My taxes are already bailing everyone else it seems, why should I add students to that list.
Compulsory and Further education to be free definitely, higher education, no its a choice, a commitment, a dedication not a “gimme”.

  1. I remember back in ‘78-’80. I was in college. I was paying for it myself. Mostly. (Grandpa had left some money in a trust that helped defray things like textbooks and student ‘fees’.) I remember back then college students protesting cuts in ‘their’ education subsidies.

I remember being highly p#ssed off when watching these maggot-infested, long-haired, dope-smoking so-called students protesting education ‘cuts’ by the new Carter Administration Dept. of Education. (note: I really don’t know how I managed to graduate high school without a Federal Dept. of Education.)

    a) No ‘cuts’ involved. Just lower increases than originally proposed. Don’t forget that just a year before there was no Dept. of Education to give out grants and subsidized student loans.

    b) It isn’t ‘their’ money anyway. Yet they were protesting for ‘their’ money.

I think ‘b)’ is what really ticked me off. Here I was, working my way through college, with just a little help from my deceased grandfather’s trust, and these ‘kids’ (most of whom seemed far older than me in the news reports) are protesting that the government wasn’t taking enough of my earnings to give to them.

Didn’t have any protests on my campus. BYU was, and is, a private college. The protests seemed to happen at public universities.

  2. Chris ... I think if you were looking at today’s paper you’d be pulling out your hair. I no longer have any.
There’s more of the same and the shits (pardon me) are also carrying red posters that read,

Attack on Iran will lead America/Russia to World War 3 in Iraq

Pretty literate huh?  Today’s focus is on the girls who’ve joined in the fun of vandalizing property and destroying police vehicles. These socialist creeps aren’t protesting tuition rates when they’re also carrying these signs and the red flag of commies. No sir.
