  1. Damn - maybe it’s in the water. I’ve been waking at 4ish and tossing and turning and half the time I end up getting out of bed by 5AM. Which sucks big time, since I have no job to go to. You’d think I’d be highly productive but with 4 other people in the house - I’m too polite to make a bunch of noise. So I usually do my morning walk or have a kitty love fest.

  2. PG Tips has always been a favourite of mine. The wife prefers Assam which has a lot of tannin (I think that’s the case anyway) or Earl Grey. I eventually got used to the Earl Grey, but its still a bit of an acquired taste. I really like a blend of Darjeeling with PG tips. Darjeeling on its own doesn’t have much colour so a 50/50 mix seems to work well.

The water here is very hard. We sit on what makes up the white White Cliffs of Dover so all that rain percolating through the chalk picks up a lot of calcium carbonate. It comes out of solution with boiling so kettles and hot water tanks don’t last long without furring up. Mind you I don’t think the water is too blame for my bouts of sleepless nights. It doesn’t help when the wife has to get up at 03:30 for an early shift or when she gets in at 02:00 from a late shift!
