  1. Rest in Peace Trooper! My late Father enlisted into the Army in 1932, and was sent to Fort Clark, TX for training. He was assigned to the 13th Cavalry, later the 13th Armored Regiment. He was entilted to wear either insignia! He retired as a Col. in what would be Special Forces in 1962.

    Mike

P.S. He went to Viet Nam in 1957 for a while.

  3. Wow what a story. I mean stories like these could inspire young people to do something for their country (other than sticking their hand out). Men like Ramsey, Sgt. Alvin York, Corporal Desmond Doss - who never carried a gun, but was awarded the MOH, 2LT Audie Murphy, PFC Jacklyn Lucas (at 17 the youngest Marine awarded the MOH), and my favorite, RA James Stockdale, who inflicted a near mortal injury on himself to make a point of resistance to his North Vietnamese captors (and the media made out to be a doddering old fool, by people who weren’t fit to clean his shoes) - among others serve to show what giving ‘above and beyond’ really means. But instead we are inundated with stories about inane things such as did 6 year old Suri Cruise cut her own hair and how John Edwards daughter was humiliated by her dad’s affair.

Dumbing down America - part of the step by step agenda to destroy America.

  4. Damn, got off on a tangent and forgot an interesting point I was going to make. My Dad was in the Pacific during WWII - I’ve been looking for books etc to help place where he was during that time. God Bless the mothers and wives of the era - as I’ve pinpointed two places. One was Biak - from what I read an Army offensive and the only Pacific offensive using tanks. Biak was because I do know my Dad injured his legs on coral and it is heavy with coral (ok and one of the letters from a mom - where our guys are). Well I just got Eyewitness Pacific Theater and found out that Charles Lindburgh flew missions in the Pacific and stopped at Biak.

Now I have to find time to sit down and read my Dad’s letters to see what I can sort out - although the few I’ve read are very generic.

  5. Some CIA guys led the Afghan Northern Alliance in cavalry assaults in 2002 to push the Taliban out. Probably neither of them looked like this, but it must have been something each time!
