I will add this. I grew up 71 yrs ago in a place called Hartford,Ct. Middleclass neighborhood years before the law said we had to accept everybody and so we were among our own kind. Not that we always got along with each other. We lived withing walking distance of Keeny (spelling?) Park, and on more then one occassion I tried to keep up, on my bike, with the great fighter Willie Pep, who did his roadwork there.
A beautiful park and usually safe in those far away days. But we were always warned not to venture to the other side all the way over to the north end of town. Cause the Negro’s, as they were correctly referred to then, held sway at that end of town and they had a reputation for carrying razors and knives.
Well, without actually knowing where we were in the park in relation to the forbidden area, and it was a very large park, a friend and myself were biking along a pathway and we rolled down a small hill to a stream. Hot summer day, no plastic water bottles but there was this clear looking water and we made for it.
Got off the bikes, took off shoes, and socks and all dunked tired feet in water and splashed faces etc. Don’t know where they came from or why we didn’t see em, but suddenly there was a group of girls coming towards us and they actually had knives out. Man, we were really two pale faces and getting paler and got the hell outta there leaving shoes behind.
The green and pretty neighborhood I grew up in all those yrs ago became a fenced in and mostly disreputable place. Some years ago when I had to go back to Ct., a cousin took me on a very quick tour of our old homes, with a caution to keep our windows closed. No longer a pretty sight because the life forms that moved into the area had no idea about pride in property and by the look of it, hygiene either.

The really sad part is if the woman had righteously bitch slapped the little turds, she would be the one in the slammer!
