  1. "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.”
    Albert Einstein

“I must say those fighting words especially for you, Mr. Gore,” he said, dramatically raising the weapon over his head with his right hand: “From my cold, dead hands!” - NRA President Charlton Heston at the NRA Convention in Charlotte, NC in 2000.

  2. I think the gun owners should do it. If each one of those 1.5 million folks got just 2 minutes each in front of his majesty to make their case, and his royal self put in a 12 hour day every day ... that would eat up just about 11 1/2 years of his lifetime tenure, and allow him to do nothing else. Couldn’t make things any worse.

I think the problems are bigger than just the mayor. A stray bullet comes in the window and kills a kid, and the shooter is charged with 1st degree murder? Wrong. Negligent homicide. The cops seemingly catch the bangers who shot the other kid, and no charges are filed? WTF?

Should we even allow the consideration that more gun laws will solve this problem? I’d bet at least 90% of the shooters involved in these incidents are not “legal” gun owners; more laws won’t do a thing to the people who don’t care to obey them in the first place. But such obvious aspects must be ignored so that more and more laws can be passed that do the same thing the other ones already in place do!

  3. Well if the example of gun control in Britain is anything to go by it’s a waste of time. The possession of handguns was banned in Britain and the level of gun crime has increased substantially. I think Drew’s suggestion is excellent. Let everyone have their two minutes with this jerk. We have the same nonsense in Britain with more and more laws to replace laws that worked ok already. All it does is make more money for shysters.

  4. I think that Drew has a good point, I think that all 1.5 million of Illinois gun owners should appear before King Richard................And they should all bring their guns to show him.  If having guns causes so much murder and mayhem, why aren’t there more slaughters at the thousands and thousands of gun shows around the country???  The NRA convention should be a regular slaughterhouse!!! We should be reading about blood flowing in the isles of these shows.  Or is it that there are so many armed people at the shows that these crackpots and gang bangers are afraid to start shooting???  Another thing King Richard, how could these people be shot, isn’t Chicago gun free???  What an asshole

  5. This is over-the-top, even for King Richie II.  I haven’t seen anything so outrageous since someone carved their initials into the runway at Meigs Field with a bulldozer.

    Oh, wait.

    Same asshat.

  6. That does it.  I am leaving for Texas as soon as I can.

  7. OIf course, if said 1.5 million gun owners show up at the same time carrying their guns, Daley might see their point immediately.

  8. Draven - that’s the “other” reason for the Second Amendment.  Thomas Jefferson thought that tyrants should live in fear of an armed populace.  I don’t think it would do much to mollify the hoplophobes though.

  9. After all, we’re all better off if civilians can’t own guns, right?

(see, the U.K.; Australia; Poland circa 1939)
