Kellogg’s now includes a ‘halal certified’ logo on the side of its cereal boxes.

  1. The problem is that the damn Christians will eat anything ... they’re almost as bad as the Fwench.  Sure, once in a great while we see some box of crisps with one of those “Approved By Her Majesty The Queen” seals, but that’s about it. There is no crossed keys stamp that shows Vatican approval, nor anything from any Pentecostal Council, or whatever. We don’t need that sort of thing; I guess it’s just assumed we can tell good food from bad.

OTOH, carrying the halal BS to grain products is getting into the realm of the asinine. As sad as it makes me to admit it, there is NO BACON in Cheerios. Duh. And I don’t need a stamp from some group of pedophile terrorists to point that out.

The thing about it is, or so I’ve heard, that the halal thingy isn’t just due to proper pisslamic practices being done, it’s also because the food product has been blessed in Allah’s name.

If I see a box of stuff with a kosher or a parve stamp on it, or even one that’s specially kosher for Passover, does that mean the production line employs a Rabbi to get G_d’s blessing on it? I don’t know. It doesn’t bother me, but for daily life it seems bit intrusive.

We don’t need religious strictures to tell us how to grow, harvest, assemble, cook, and store food in a hygienic manner. All the religious rules were set up LONG before anyone knew what germs were.

Personally, if I was that uptight about religion, any religion, I’d take my shopping cart down to my local church for the magic to be applied locally. I don’t think the food boxers have any business doing either one ... and I sure as heck don’t want no ugly ass torn up bloody halal chunks of meat. Yuk. I want nicely trimmed and aged steaks, cut from a cow that was zapped dead in a flash, just like God intended it.

  2. Drew:  “it’s also because the food product has been blessed in Allah’s name.”

I have an all new understanding and appreciation for Christians saying a blessing over their food just before they eat it.  This consecrates the food in Jesus’ name, negating any blessing that came before.

  3. Does it? I never really thought along those lines. Grace always seemed more of a giving of thanks to me. I never thought about the negating aspect. But I think you could be right ... should we add a line asking for it to be cleansed of heathen influence or whatever?

  4. Take a look at the Typical Christian Grace Prayers listed on this Wikipedia page:  Grace (prayer)

As you can see, it depends on the denomination.  Myself, I grew up using a “thanks” based blessing very similar to what’s listed for “Common in UK religious schools.”

I’ve recently had the opportunity to hear the wording in Catholic blessings of food prior to a meal, which is how I arrived at my realization.

I think either the Catholic or Eastern Orthodox blessings would do quite handily.

  5. Had a friend many years ago who use to pour Bourbon over his corn flakes every morning.

He didn’t want to raise his colesterol and hated skim milk, so Wild Turkey Bourbon seemed like the best alternative.

  6. YUP, I just checked the Kellogg’s Corn Flake box.

    IT’S THERE:

The Halal certified logo is on the bottom of a side panel, next to the Vegeterian symbol and in my care “approved by Queenie” symbol.

Interestingly however, I didn’t spot the “parve” KOSHER symbol.

  7. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a foodstuff with both the Pareve (Kosher) and Halal markings on them at the same time.

  8. I firmly doubt you ever will Argentium G. Tiger since Islam and Judism are sworn enemies. The Islamic regime in Iran has sworn to exterminate Israel.

Unfortunately, The European Union (including the UK) have abandoned Israel and lept on the Islamic band wagon.

    Why?

Cause the Muslime hoards are in the process of taking over Europe in numbers and in ideology thanks to the Liberal, Politically Correct, multicultural do-gooders.

  9. As I understand it there is little difference betweel the way halal meat is killed and kosher, I find them both preferable to the western slaughterhouse godless method. Have a look, my take on halal is the imam charactor is supposed to calm the animal and without the animal realising slit its throat and then the body is hung to drain the blood.
The western method is to heard the critters in to cramped pens with thw stench of death and (in the case I saw was sheep) sling the terrified animals down a steel chute to a conveyor belt to be killed.
To qualify I love meat, the stuff from a slaughterhouse must be full of adrenalin wheras the kosher/halal should not be, I found some halal chicken in Food Basics once and it was better tasting than their normal fare!
My grandfather kept chickens ( in London!!) and would hold one , calm it down and then quickly break its neck so kind of the same!
I disagree with this appeasement bull and Kellogs have lost my business unless they make it Kosher too, lets face it islam seems determined to go for world domination or bust so there will be few halal buyers after that dust up!
