  1. My Father never tried to sneak out of jury duty either—I guess he was my model, since I’ve had to serve on three of the damned things.  But his joke for how to get dismissed applies here: “Bring that guilty bastard in here and let’s give him a fair trial—then we’ll hang the sumbitch!”

Also the old west jury that deliberated for two hours before bringing in a guilty verdict.  The judge announced, “Kee-rect, but tardy! What took ye so long? We strung the varmint up an hour ago!”

  2. Where’s Judge Roy Bean when we really need him question The Law West of the Pecos. The good ole days at the Jersey Lily Saloon and Courtroom in Langtry, Texas: A quick “trial”, a round of drinks, then string the suhbitch up by the neck until the buzzards peck out his beady little eyes.

  3. Oh, but he might be innocent ya know. Just have to find the proof of demonic or Goa’uld possession when he was in power and he should get the charges dismissed. tongue rolleye

  4. I say do all of it, Hang him with his toes JUST touching the ground, while he is hanging, stone him, and then put a couple of nonfatal bullets in him, then gas him, make it a lingering and painful gas too, then when he is really in pain.... Never mind, my mind racing with possibilities, and the SOB deserves EVERY one of them.

Yeah, this murderer deserves a LONG and PAINFUL death for all those that he has killed, and they need to FILM it and distribute it, to tell ALL other would be dictators that the same could and will happen to them.

  5. Of course.. we have to give murderers and tyrants more protection from cruel and unusual punishment then they gave their victims.. Crazy… grrr I say he should be locked up in a room with the families of some of his victims, and let them choose whatever weapons they want.

  6. Also notice how the media is all for innocent till proven guilty and trying to make Saddam sound like a saint, while it’s guilty till proven innocent for Rove… :(

  7. We sure have come a long way in a hundred years. Not all of it is good. In the old days when a dictator was overthrown he was taken out back and shot/hanged/defenestrated (go look that up LOL) No fuss, no muss and no Amnesia International to whine about saving someone who’s evil deeds they had been whining about for years decades.

Give unto me a doggiestyle break.

  8. Defenestration, haven’t heard that term since reading about the “mysterious” (suspicious) death of Forrestall… That swandive out the “hospital” window was a classic case of assisted suicide, indeed…

Best Rx for Saddam is a long, slow lowering, feet-first, into the world’s largest bologna slicer.

  9. TatPat: I learned it from reading Nero Wolfe mysteries; Det. Cramer used the word.
    fenestre(Fr.) = window

  10. I’m thinking that the French word is ‘fenĂȘtre’. Close enough though.

I picked up the term in a now defunct on-line trivia game. It was odd enough that it stayed with me. I believe that the historians used “defenestration” to describe the deaths of some Balkan region big-wigs who were chucked out a window during a revolution. The details escape me.

I hadn’t realized that the term was applied to James Forrestal‘s unfortunate demise.
