Skipper underlying this story is a very serious situation that has been allowed to develop. Traditionally Britain has been closely allied with the US. However our beloved leader has signed up with that arch slime ball Chirac to ensure procurement of military hardware is more “euro-centric.” For example Britain is dithering over building two new aircraft carriers. The carriers will be built by a French company. There are numerous examples now of Britain buying euro crap, rather than US built military hardware because the EU weenies want closer integration. It sickens me. One of the prime examples is Galilleo the rival to NAVSTAR. The French hate it and have come up with an alternative (which doesn’t seem to work terribly well) Oh and by the way they plan to give all the codes to the Chinese so they can better target their cruise missiles at us! I will admit that the US has over the years been responsible for a few shenanigans in the arms world. The F111 and the F104 Starfighter spring to mind. Well business is war say the Japanese, so sometimes yu have to play rough, but if push comes to shove I would trust Uncle Sam every time, but I wouldn’t trust a European as far as I could throw him.....sorry for the rant but the way things are heading the US will lose a valuable ally because of these Euro fanatics.

French Lt. Col. Patrick Le Roy, who leads the Leclerc unit, said the tank is more robust and technologically advanced than the Israeli Merkava — a similar-sized tank that was at times taken out by Hezbollah missiles in the fighting that began July 12.
“When you hear that coming, it certainly has a deterrent effect,” Le Roy said as an armored vehicle rumbled by.
The Leclerc will protect personnel and deter aggressors, French Defense Minister Michele Alliot-Marie told AP Television News in Paris.
