g4 X g7…
okay:
1. Rxg7 Kxg7
Now what?
Mind you, I’ve not solved this either. Nor have I peaked at the answer (yet)
First order of business… which Black piece is overloaded? I don’t know…
1. f1-f6 e6-g5
2. g4xg5 h6xg5
3. e3xg5 ....
I think the first step is figuring out which piece is overloaded. I think there may be two ... so let’s stress them both.
1. Rf6
threaten the knight and the overloaded pawn. What to do? If Black takes the rook with his queen, then pawn takes queen. Ignomious! If knight runs away, then Rxh6+ for a check, and the white queen, bishop, and other rook can be brought to bear to lock up the king in that corner in a couple of moves. If black pawn at g7 takes the rook at f6, then the game is lost even sooner, as move 2 becomes 2. Qh6++
So it can be mate in 2, but it will probably be mate in a few.
Joeaimm4, like your avatar. 1. Rf6 seems to the first move. I was looking that myself. Still haven’t found the right follow-up. Haven’t peek’d at the answer yet. Kinda hoping Wes will weigh in.
