  1. So it’s safe to say the instructor wasn’t really much of one then.
    Darwin at work,,,Again.

  2. I feel so bad for this young lady. Instead of having a positive experience on the range, she will forever have to deal with the death of her instructor.

I want to yell and cuss - THIS WAS ALL THE INSTRUCTORS FAULT! Besides the obvious question “Why have a 9 year old shooting a fully automatic gun”, why wasn’t the instructor assisting her with the holding of it? When I first instructed my grandson on a .22 cal rifle, I was holding the rifle over his hands. Good thing too, the first couple of shots he want to let go.

I am interested to find out just what this “instructors” qualifications were? I feel bad for his family (if he has one), but given his apparent lack of intelligence and planning - maybe they are better off.

  3. Questions, questions, questions -
    1) Had she ever shot a rifle or a pistol before?
    2) If No to question 1 - who was so stupid to do a fully auto rifle as the ‘first shoot’?
    3) Why did he switch from semi-auto to full auto? Was this video edited? And doesn’t that make a difference to this entire sad story?
    4) Why did he not keep his hands on the gun/her?

There are a lot of questions on this event - but the adults - most especially the ‘range instructor’ (notice how the ‘news’ media identifies him as a Veteran - let’s smear them all with one bad actor) who let this awful event happen.

My Dad started us with a .22 - it was a long time before he let us shoot a shotgun and then only one shot at a time at a target. It was much longer before he let us skeet shoot.

Common sense people - and whichever parent let this happen - is almost as culpable as the ‘range instructor’.

And a little girl is going to be an emotional wreck for possibly forever - because adults could/did not use their brains.

  4. And another thing ...

This also give rise to the usual rant about us and guns.
    You know.
Americans and guns are not safe together.

Btw way .... it’s reported here that Bill Gates has pledged $1m to boost gun controls.
Paul Allen donated a half million.

  5. Every one of the commentors so far on the instructors errors was spot on. You don’t hand a little kid a weapon of ANY form without hovering tightly.
