1. IMHO, that is indeed 1984’s rightspeak, but also Catch 22.

   It’s about the same as saying this guy is a bank robber, but it’s not fair to stop him for a DUI check and discover he has no driver’s license and bust him for the robbery warrant.

   The California driver’s license for illegals initiative makes me wanna holler.

2. Mayor Jerry Brown overruled them and said that stopping the checkpoints was dumb.

   How screwed-up is a city when JERRY BROWN is the voice of reason???

3. Yep, I just heard about that.  I agree---just how screwed up can something be for JERRY “LEFTIST” BROWN to make a decision like this?
