  1. Hey ... that was good. And the ending blew me away. pun not intended.

  2. I’m sorry that Irene just did not make a straight bee line to Martha’s Vineyard and solve so many problems for America in a 15-20 minute period.

I seem to recall that prior to Katrina - there was indeed calls to evacuate and to hear the idiotic reasons not (the car I used wouldn’t start - umm, what’s to worry about if it doesn’t work - someone isn’t going to be stealing it - and whose going to be stripping cars in a hurricane?) And that kind of dumb - really doesn’t need to be supported or encouraged at all. But the entire deal was complicated by Nagin who because of his ‘color’ was not going to be taken to task for his failures. He bought himself a ‘chocolate city’ and by damn and high water he was going to keep hisself a ‘chocolate city’ - Almost made me swear off chocolate. (Almost but I’m no quitter).

Thought that the weather people (every time I turned to FNC, it was Irene this, Irene that) were over hyping (and even saw someone on the Internet saying over hyping was better than under playing it. Yeah right scare everyone to death over and over again - and guess what happens- Hint read Peter and the Wolf) - can’t fix stupid.

I’m in a foul mood - hubby did not hear that I had set the media center to tape a movie for the boy child (and we have Formula One this AM) so he shut it all down. No movie and I just caught the start of the race by realizing that it wasn’t on. Not sure why he blew me off like that - not a good way to start a Sunday morning - miffed.

And the m-i-l is coming next Saturday - for a few days. Which means that I will be crazy busy this week getting ready. Oh bother - where is a good hurricane when you really need one?!?

  3. It wasn’t my hubby - so I am making my apology public - Now to find out who turned it off. Not sure if the kitty litter did it to hid their late night watching of kitty porn.

  4. Well, we made it through, as expected. It’s still raining, and it’s still gusting, but nothing bad happened here. We lost the power for about 10 minutes in the middle of the night which woke me up, as we have so many electronic gizmos that start singing when you take away the juice. Beep beep beep beep ... yeah, I know, now shut up already. Some friends texted that they had water coming into their basement faster than 2 shop-vacs could handle it. MIL has no power but hasn’t flooded. This has been a very wet year, a wet summer too, and I’m sure we had at least 5” of rain in the past 24 hours. The ground is saturated, so I’m thinking trees may fall over the next several days. None fell here though, not yet.

I’m sure other parts of the state got hit much worse than we did, seeing as we’re 50 miles inland. And Irene petered out fairly quickly. So overall, not even close to what the Chicken Little Brigade was hoping for forecasting.

I was awake half the night it seems, so I just got up. Will have my coffee and see what’s on the news about how others fared.

On a positive note, I made a great steak and veg curry last night that will last us a couple of days. Used too much black pepper, but otherwise it was fine.
