  1. I suppose this is a good thing.  They may be a little too tough on minor criminals there, but I get the feeling we are a little too soft over here in America.  There are certainly a good number of 17 year olds (and maybe younger) over here in America that need a good killin’.  I supposed a punishment somewhere in the middle approach would be good.  I thought the cane pole beating that American kid on somewhere over in Asia was a just punishment.  We need a punishment that gives the criminal a little humility and a higher “that really sucked, I don’t want to do that again” mentality.  Jail terms do not work.  In fact, a future thug in training going to jail is a resume builder for the bad guy.  Going to jail helps bad guy network and teaches him more bad stuff.  When they get out, they brag about their time in.  I used to be a police officer and I can tell you that a lot of criminals view jail as a vacation so to speak.  They get to fatten up a little by eating and sleeping good, and all the free medical care.  A major plus many of them told me is that they get free dental work as no one can afford it on the outside and dental work is not the same as medical care.  If you are sick you can walk into any hospital and free treatment is given.  There is no dentist that does this.  So they get them cavities and root canals etc. all done on the taxpayer dime.  I like Kim’s idea of the stockade.  Put the thugs in the town square for a day or two and let his community see him as he is...a thug.  Let them laugh at him and throw rotten food even.  Instead, their punishment gets hidden from the public.  So the criminal gets to maintain his thug coolness.  Let the world see him cry and suffer a little.  Two days in the stocks with a few lashes for the pain and crying affect would do more to dissuade this thug than 6 months in jail ever would.  Of course, this is only my opinion, I could be wrong.

  2. So let me get this straight…

A country with a history of taking children
and marching them out through minefields
to clear the way for their regular soldiers
as they did in the Iraq/Iran War

Is now going to worry about how other countries
    and Amnesty International view them?

    Yeaaaaahhhhhh....

  3. Im with ya there TimO. Amnesty inc just needs a bit of face time in the media I guess. As to Mr Powell, well I guess he would like another stab at Sec of State and this gives him all the cred he would need with O’dipsh_t.

  4. Just saw a headline says Colin Powell endorses Obama .... oh bloody great.  Funny thing however.  I’m not surprised but I don’t know why.

    Uhm, no. I won’t say it. I won’t.
