I like the fancy wood piece…
Then again, I do like cheap - especially if the cheap is better!
And does the iRiver have a removable battery system? If so, screw all that color screen nonsense - just to be able to change out your battery without sending it away and not having it for a length of time is worth it - especially if you have some sort of customization.
Dac: no instructions on replacing battery but from the user manual it seems to be a standard 3.7 volt lithium-polymer battery and there are four tiny screws on the back that I assume would make it easy to change. I’ll look into it further and let ya know.
Sheesh. I am sooooo totally out of the loop as far are this type of shit goes…
I had never even heard of an “iRIVER” player. I checked out their site and I conclude with my meager knowledge on the subject of digital music files/players that PEOPLE WHO BUY iPODS ARE GETTING RIPPED OFF ROYALLY! HAH! I knew I was waiting for something better to come out! O.K., I didn’t really know that I was waiting for something better to come out, but I guess I was anyways.
Maybe I’ll get me one o them iRIVER thingys this fall when I (fingers crossed) get my bonus.
Looks ugly to me, my oldiPod just had the case pop off and change the battry, and the quality is a lot higher if you use Apples codec instead of lossy mp3, a free utility converted Apples to mp3 for daughters mp3 player

Nothing fades faster than ‘cool’ technology as ‘cooler’ technology comes out. Just look at the super cool stuff that has come out in the last five years. Cell phones with Internet hook-up? Sheesh…
Three cheers for the Geeks of the world. :}
Looks cool, Allan............I have looked at the iPods at the Apple store........just don’t think it is for me - hell, I still haven’t figured out how to work the DVD player my son gave me for Christmas.............Sometimes I can’t even figure out how to access the voice mail on my cell phone!!!!!!!! Technology seems to be spinning out of control!!!!!!!
Planned obsolescence...i do like the looks of the woody though.
You know, Imp? I like the look of woodies, too.
Actually, the iPod has always played MP3 files just fine, in addition to Apple’s AAC format, Audible audiobook files, and a couple others. The Photo version’s pretty cool, too. I keep pics of my baby girl on it. Plus it hooks into a TV to play the slideshows on the big-screen.
Ya know, Phoenix? I kinna thought you’d come up with that. LOL!
‘Tis my understanding that you and a few of ya cohorts have been having entirely too much fun, while i was away. Such rascals y’all are! Good for you!
(btw..luv da pic/av of ya. We be having twin hair!)
Hope all had a wonderful and safe 4th.
Impster,
We have twin hair? oooh.. very cool. Do you wear yours tied back?
Yes, we did have some fun. Actually, I laughed myself sick. I’m sorry you weren’t with us. You would most certainly have added to the hilarity.
Red Five,
I’m a MAC person, so I am clapping at your comments. :}
