  1. When “the BOY” was in kindergarten, he told a little friend that if they didn’t accept Jesus , they’d be going to hell. As I recall he was “threatened” with detention-for a FIVE year old?-and moonbat ex-husband said he’d ban Alex from going to church with me if I didn’t start respecting the seperation of “church and state”
HAPPY 1st DAY OF SCHOOL Mr."5TH GRADER.”!
    BARB* Alex’s mom*

  2. My oldest son was told he could not say grace at meals in school. Not even to himself.
My little sister was a teacher and she was told that she could not require kids to do reports on employment because some of her students were 3rd/4th generation welfare recips and had never had any one in their family with a job!

  3. I’m doing teacher training after 23 years Army service in the UK.  We are told for every criticism on an essay or whatever we have to find 2 ideally 3 good points......

And they wonder why some of my fellow student teachers are incapable of stringing two sentences together or making a decent argument....? !!!!!

  4. It’s really pernicious; IMO probably started with that moron Spock and now we have the “Pussification of America” as so well noted by Kim du Toit.

My recollection of school days is that all comments, both corrective and praise, were done by the teacher in red because they stood out easily from the mass of blue and black ink.

Note that the red markings included praise - phrases such as “nice turn of phrase” or “perfect” helped emphasize strong points in the work.

And occasionally an “A” or “100 - good work!” from a demanding teacher really stood out at the top of a paper or exam as the only mark upon it, which was the best self-esteem enhancer one could receive.

  5. Actually Vilmar, in my school, we are not allowed to use red marker AND we are NOT allowed to write on the student’s work without their permission.  We are FORCED to use sticky notes.  Otherwise, we are “damaging their creative expression.  Also, starting this year, we are no longer allowed to say the word “NO.” Yup - this is the truth - we have to say crap like “I think it’s better if you DIDN’T choke Bobby.” The word “NO” is just too negative - and we can’t have the little ones exposed to negativity - they should just run rampant and do whatever they want!  It will make them better adults (yeah right!) This will be a FUN Year!!!!!

  6. EDUCATONAL SYSTEMS should spend more time removing
TENURE so that the useless teachers can be booted out of the system.

I don’t even like the FAIL OR PASS as compared to A-F---
To give a child a PASS (instead of a D or an A) doesn’t really say much about what the child has learned.

Let’s just give everybody at age 18 a diploma.

If you want to scribble comments across THIS COMMENT,
    it’s OK!

  7. Now we know why this country (and the “Mother Country” Dave T?)is screwed up: we all had our papers marked up in red, and so (1) none of us has any self-confidence and (2) we’re all so negative. If I had an self-confidence, I’d drop an F-bomb.

  8. Yeah, I’ve heard of this s**t!

My school district is rather conservative in many ways and we get to use whatever color we want to grade papers.

I use red because its easier to see and has graphic impact.

Funny how the “experts” that keep telling us how to teach haven’t set foot in a real classroom in years.  All of my education professors at the university level hadn’t taugh a public school class in at least 20 years.  Yet they were training me how to go into a high school classroom.

    Go figure.

  9. Just heard from my niece.  She is making the extreme sacrifice of staying a teacher in order to spy on those bureaucratic bastards and also keep me apprised of what is going on in the school systems so that I can then take measures to make sure my grand daughter does not get braiwashed.

    Now, THAT’S what I call self-sacrifice!!!

  11. First, I just want to say I love this site.  But back to the topic...I’m going to be a senior in high school this year, and lucky for me, my teachers can still use red ink...however I’m sure that the barking moonbat that is my principal will soon change that and various other aspects of the school.  I had a very tough teacher for Honors Organic and Inorganic Chemistry and seeing “good job” in red ink on top of those papers was definitely an ego boost for me.  “Politically Correct” has gone waaay too far. And unfortunately, most high school kids are just too ignorant or stupid to notice or care...sigh…

  12. Kristin,

Glad you like the site.  We aim to please.

Also glad to see you appear to have your head screwed on firmly.  Do your best to help your fellow students reverse the brainwashing and feel-good nonsense so prevalent today in schools.

The future you save may be your own.

  13. There is still hope for America as long as the young people like Kristin can see through this bovine scatology.

  14. Kristen -
You sound like your head is screwed on straight.  As a father who has (now) four daughters in or through college - something for you to consider (completely your choice, obviously!) Find the toughest teachers in your school, regardless of if they are your assigned teachers or not.  Tell them what YOU want, and ask them to guide you, independent of the administration (they don’t have to know).  Tell these faculty that you want them to give you HONEST, CRITICAL and CONSTRUCTIVE criticism.  This will give you the edge in college and beyond: The ability to OBJECTIVELY and CRITICALLY think, reason and act.  It ain’t easy, and these teachers are (tragically) a dying breed.

Remember - no one ever improved when they were only told how good they were.

    Good Luck!
