Yes, I’ve gone over the deep end.
I’m reading up on the history of the truss in American architecture too - Carl Condit’s American Building Art 19th Century - from 1960, which you can find in online used books shops for just a couple bucks. All the greats are in it - Lowthorp, Bollman, Parker, Long, Howe, Warren, Fink, Stone, et al - as the book follows the growth of building technology from wood and brick to iron and steel beams, cast iron foundries in New York City, the rise of the Chicago School, the development of the modern skyscraper, and of course the bridges, from early colonial slabs through Squire Whipple’s cast iron bowstring through wooden RR trestles and covered bridges to modern and future designs.
We need to find you full time employment Pronto my boy.
