I see the won is now lecturing the Europeans on spending...they are not spending enough to keep lazy Greeks and Spaniards in the style they are accustomed too apparently.

You have to read their books (sadly I’ve read too many) - THEY are the ONES who will Do Socialism, Social Justice, Fairness RIGHT - it is why they all say They Are The Ones They Have Been Waiting For - they truly are so delusional to think that they and they alone have all the answers.

Cost of a gallon of gas - here (average) $3.60 - at the end of the ‘Bush reign of terror’ - $1.81 (even though some fluff answer sites are claiming it was $3.47)
US deficit - $1.101 trillion - at the end of the ‘Bush reign of terror’ - $407 billion.
Oh how I wish that these past four years would simply be a Bobby Ewing dream - to be back in 2008 would be a blessing.
Wardmama, I just finished reading simple little murder mystery novel called The Marx Daughters. While it was a fun little detective drama, at the end the author goes on a bit about old Karl and his theories, and brings up an idea that I’d never heard before (granted that I am no expert on Marx or Engels): that every implementation of Socialism and Communism that has been tried has been doomed to failure because the revolutionaries were trying to take an impossible shortcut. You can’t go from Feudalism to Socialist Utopia in one step. You can only get to Socialist Utopia AFTER allowing Capitalism to play itself out, creating a great wealthy nation-state with a high standard of living for everyone, including the poor. Two characters in the book had differing opinions on how you would get there: one felt that Utopia would create itself naturally from the kind heart of mankind, and thus not need much or any government at all; the other took a more Calvinist view of humanity and felt that only a strong Party would be able to do the job.
Those few paragraphs really gave me pause. Prophetic. The endgame of Capitalism is that a very few will have most of the money and ownership, which in a way is almost going full circle back to a feudal state, with kings and princes on top. If the people or The Party then rises up and takes their wealth you can either reset the Capitalism game to the beginning (but at a far higher level) or install a king to oversee that wealth and distribute small bits of it as necessary. But if a new game was put into play when the seizing took place, a new “normal” would quickly arise. We seem to be quite a distance down the “Plan B” pathway in my opinion.
The real problem with most of these pinko social planners is that they all feel that the current system must be lead to utter rack and ruin before putting their new way into play. Break down everything to total anarchy before playing savior. Obama could have done FAR more to advance the utopian dream just by signing a bill eradicating human categorization. No more records of who is black, white, brown, or yellow. No more hetero or homo. No more male or female. Fat or thin. Young or old. That would be true equality, and we could all be unhyphenated Americans together. Instead he has done everything in his power to set the groups at each others throats.
