  1. Vil -
Keep at the .45 for a bit - Watch your breathing.  It’s typically breathing that causes the pattern to have a vertical dispersion.
Not bad - you would definately qualify as getting the goblins attention.

  2. Very good, Vilmar. My advice: ignore the range guy. You’re drifting left because that is your “strong side”. Use your left hand finger on the trigger and see what happens. Good shooting, though, for first time in 32 years. Very good. Try from 50 feet as well to see how good your eyesite is.

  3. Hey, not just 50 feet, 25 yards!  I will put up a man size target and see where I hit.  Anywhere near the “heart” and “liver” areas would make me very happy.  No sense going for the head shots.... too hard.

The problem with my eyes is middle age.  I have 20-15 vision 5 feet past the tip of my nose.  So when I look down the barrel, I see a blur.  So I try the best I can with aligned the threee blurry dots on the “goblin.”

I’ll post the targets when I get back.

  4. Good shooting Vilmar.  Everything is in the same area so next time to compensate for it and you should be more center mass.  Either way, you struck “meat”.

  5. From 25 yards? That’s 75 feet, Vilmar. With a pistol, no less. And your bad eyes?

Make sure there is a LARGE sand bank behind the targets. About 100 feet high and 300 feet wide. And for God’s sake don’t aim toward North Alabama. Hee-hee hee ....

  6. So you’re a “southpaw”, eh? Me too. Guess that explains a lot.*devious grin*
Btw-a bout a dozen years ago or so, Dave Barry did a column on being left-handed.  It was TOO FUNNY!

  8. Allan:  the range’s targets are slightly northwest.  I will be sure to use really hot ammo next time.  Also, there’s a really great saying I enjoy:  “everybody likes a little ass, nobody likes a smart ass.”

Excuse me while I go clean my guns. Smartass.  bwah hahahaha

Dottie, if (God forbid) you ever get in a tangle with a goblin, talking to him won’t help.  You’ll thank God for anyone nearby possessing a gun to air condition the son of a bitch.

Barb: I like Barry.  Just finished reading is latest book.  I’ll try and find the article you mentioned.  I’m not a true southpaw though.  More of a mongrel.  I throw with the left and my left arm is stronger.  I eat and write with the right.

Musta got the wires crossed a long time ago.

  9. "Gun Control means good sighting.” “Keep honking… I’m reloading.” “I have PMS and a gun...now, you were saying.” Bumper stickers I’ve seen-sorry Dottie*okay, not really-grin*

  10. I saw a great bumber sticker today that fits perfectly with this topic!!  “Gun control is using both hands.” heh heh.  Ironically enough, there was also a Bush-Cheney sticker on that car...wierd, eh?

  11. I’ll do you one better Kristin:  “Gun Control Means Hitting What you Aim At!”

  12. OUTSTANDING!

I too am a lefty.  I shoot all long guns left handed and my left eye is dominant.  However, I have never had any success shooting a hangun with the left hand.  Dont know, or care, why.......just use the right.

Regardless, damn respectable shooting for the newbie.  Bogey wouldn’t walk away from that one!

  13. I had CSI (of Miami, since they’re the closest) check this display of pistol shooting.

And with an infa red, laser indirectional angle gauge, give or take a milimeter, adjusting for hot air and sticky fingers,
THEY DETERMINED that in fact you were only 6 inches
    from the target!

    Keep on practising.........

  14. Geez, Vilmar, get a little closer, wouldja?  At 25 yards, you can’t hear that nice meaty thud when a .45 slug plows into some goblin’s chest.  You can’t feel the spray of the blood in your face.  Don’t most street shootings occur between one and three -FEET-?

Face the target.  Reach out with weak hand and touch the target.  Then make your draw and, starting at waist height, walk the rounds up the target.

It’s the right thing to do.  And it will let the goblin see your merry grin as his vision fades to black.
