in praise of guns

 

1. The funny thing is going to be that when they do pass the ordinance, there won’t be any gun sales ... because everyone there already owns a gun. Or 3. Or 5. Or 12.

   And Kennesaw GA has been virtually crime free for 30 years. Wiki gives the national violent crime rate for 2011 as 386.3/100K, so 85.16% less is 57.3/100K; with their 50K population, that means about 29 violent crimes per year. Many urban folks will see that as super-wonderful, but it’s still too high in my opinion. OTOH, my own county has a VCR of 0.6/1K, which is 60/100K, just a tick worse than that of Kennesaw, and this is the quietest nicest place to live you could just about imagine. Still, I’d like it to be lower. If it weren’t for those drunken bums over in Milford ...

   Oh, and guess what we don’t have ANY of here in Hunterdon? You’re damn right. Not one.
