  1. "To tempt is but Woman’s way ... to be desired is but Woman’s need.”
    - old (India?) saying -

... and to look is Man’s instinct.

  2. "the women we gape at are ALL of them, far younger than we are. “

haha! Yes, it’s true. At a certain age, a guy starts to notice girls who are also around his age ... call it about 12 or 13. Then they start noticing “older women” of about 15-16. By the time they’re in high school “older women” are in college, but they still notice the young teen girls. As guys grow up and get older, the only thing that changes is that “older women” also get older. So by the time you hit Methuselah’s Peiper’s age, anything in heels or with curves is fair game. For his eyes at any rate. Anything further and he gets the creep label.

On the other hand, some guys focus on unobtainable youth and beauty, and if they happen to be very rich they get themselves “arm candy” “trophy wives”.

Funny thing is, women ALWAYS have age-bracketed tunnel vision, that usually points them towards slightly older males. At 12 they want the 15 year old boys, and boys their own age are “eww, so immature”. At 15 they think they deserve guys who are 18 to 20, and boys their own age are “eww, so immature”. At 20 they want guys who are out of college with a good job; 18 year olds are children they don’t even see. And so on. I think this flattens out at some point, and our modern culture has allowed the highly successful, powerful, or beautiful middle aged woman to reverse the trend and acquire guys who are noticeably younger. This is seen either as the unserious sex monkey “boy toy” or as a bad thing when done by school teachers. So go figure.

  3. I recall, when I was but a sprout, probably two at most, looking at the newspaper ads.  Although the word “parallax” had not yet entered my vocabulary, I understood it well.  I could get up close to the window to see things off to the side that were invisible from farther back.  My mother was vexed when she found me laying my head on the newspaper trying to see up the skirts of the women pictured.  I just wanted to know what was up there, but was too polite to impose on a live woman.

  4. Screw that, I will never apologize for looking at a pretty or a fat or any woman. It’s THEIR/THEY’RE/THERE problem.

  5. Hasn’t occurred to anyone else here to apologize either. And I sure don’t. I just find human nature a bit overwhelming from time to time. Perhaps vexing is a better word.

  6. That’s the Word peiper, now excuse me but my car needs a bit of vexing too.
