Another batch of hypocrites getting their due. I’m really trying to summon some sympathy for them but it’s just not happening. Perhaps they’ll look to themselves before they take up their superior attitude again to decry others.

I thought the same with the Panama Canal “giveaway”. What’s the big deal? Who needs trouble? Anytime we want to take it back, no problemo.

Yep, that Panama Canal isn’t going anywhere. The latest problem, however, is that the Chinese want to get in on the action there. They want to buy in by investing/participating in the enlargement program. I suspect that they want to run it eventually.
Any influence the Chinese get over the Panama Canal would represent a stranglehold on the U.S. for both commercial shipping and moving Navy ships between oceans.
Let’s keep an eye on this.
Chinese? Screw ‘em! Let’s see how they manage the military supply line problem across the Pacific. If they want to spend their own money improving it, great. One conventional bomb on one lock, AMF Panama Canal. Terrorists are a bigger worry. If anyone tried to deny us access, we could take back the canal militarily without breaking a sweat.
True, keep an eye on what’s going on near the canal. Also Hoover Dam, ports, bridges ......
