  1. Pal2Pal is also an Expression Engine blog and I have fought IE from day one. My daughter called me one day to say that the Comment page was unreadable (it looked and worked fine in Firefox). It took me nearly a week and many exchanges in the EE tech forum to figure out what the problem was. Turned out it was a an extra ; somewhere in the coding. I haven’t upgraded yet to the new 2.0, have you?

  2. I was having trouble viewing, too. But it now looks fabulous. You are a true “technological genius” (aka “geek”—LOL!!!). Keep up the good work!!!

  4. "If builders built buildings the way that programmers write code, the first woodpecker that came along would destroy civilization.”

    There is a hodgepodge of mess in the backrooms of BMEWS. Dead scripts, leftover and forgotten apps, font tags gone missing, etc. The thing that is supposed to be so wonderful about html is that it is forgiving, and it usually is. It’s only the really big screwups that cause problems.

    Sarah, BMEWS still runs on EE 1.6, expired license and all. We have no trackbacks, we have no captcha. And half the time when I log in it takes me to the comments page. But things work pretty well, overall. Mostly.

    Now, if I could dig up my tag matching editor, I could clean house much faster. It’s on this box somewhere, if I could only remember what it’s called.

  5. I’m still running 1.6.7. I intend to upgrade but I’m so very broke right now, even the small EE fee is beyond my budget. Budget? That’s a laugh. It is hard to budget $0.

    I was going to recommend the utility you are talking about, but I can’t remember the name of it either. I did manage to upgrade a bunch of scripts, however, when I started my second blog, CALPAL. Allen had done so much of my original coding, I had to go back to school and figure out how to reproduce a bunch of stuff for the new blog. I think I wore out my welcome on the EE support forum.

  6. Here is the code for trackbacks at Pal2Pal in the Index Template. Also, check your settings for Trackbacks in Weblog Administration - Weblog Management - Trackbacks.

    {if allow_trackbacks}
    ({trackback_total}) < a href="{trackback_path="{my_template_group}/trackbacks"}">Trackbacks< /a> •
    {/if}

    Have you checked your Captcha paths in the System Preferences section of your Admin page?

    Here is the P2P captcha code found in the Comments Template:

    {if captcha}
    < p>Submit the word you see below:< /p>
    < p>
    {captcha}

    < input type="text" name="captcha" value="” size="20" maxlength="20" style="width:140px;" />
    < /p>
    {/if}

    [CLOSE THE SPACE AFTER ALL THE < that I inserted.]
