4. Damm horse? Mighta been ... at only 15 inches tall - 3.3 hands? - anybody who tried to ride him would be saying damm.

   No, “Eohippus, the Dawn Horse” is one of those phrases from childhood, when they taught us about evolution and dinosaurs and stuff. It’s just a beautiful, poetic name. “E. O. Hippus” we said, father of horses. That’s magical. “High Rack O Therium” sounds like a radioactive element found only in African rock badgers. (the hyrax, order Hyracoidea).
