I object to being forced by politicians to change the way I use light

  1. It would not be such an arse if the furkin things actualy did what they claim on the box. below is the real world of CFLs
    1) If you only turn the thing of and on once a day and leave it on all night the thing will probably outlast a decent incadescant bulb (in it was made properly, somewhere outside china)
    2) if used as above they use less power than old bulbs.
    3) They are dirty, contain mercury (probably have lead solder on the pcb as well) and use a large amount of power to manufacture.
    4) they are no good to light a dark place you need to find something in several times a day as they will die quick and use lots more power than a banned one.
    5) they die quick if used in a sealed fitting, like a waterproof one outside or in a bathroom.

    6) The light they give out is poor quality, flickers at 50hertz and takes time to attain full brightness.

7)There was a law in the UK (factory acts) that legislated the use of filament bulbs for us with rotating machines in factories (because flourescent lights flicker they can make spinning machinery appear stationary) this is an honest health and safety issue so I doubt the new rulers in brussels have any intrest in it.

Actualy No7 is a fraud as it is not about cfls! also what is the law about halogen bulbs? these actually use less power than conventional filament lamps and last longer, if used with a dimmer they actually last very long indeed and use less power than the hallowed cfls.

Dont confuse reality and sense with what comes out of brussels (or Obamas mouth, ) it is about control freaks, some asshole gets a bright idea and it gets imposed on us all, consequences be dammed. Dont forget that when the commie bastards get round to banning all filament lamps we can still use car bulbs with transformers

  2. His piece reads like Fahrenheit 451 - and I too am hoarding the little lites. Come on people - whose brain dead idea was it to use mercury for heaven’s sake? I don’t have any of those thermometers - why in heavens name make a new item and then make it mandatory with that in it? Stupid your name is enviro wacko.

4 of our rooms have dimmers (the previous owner’s wife was an artist) - so those new lights don’t work at all. Outside - other than the two door lights & a flood light by the garage - all our lights are solar - love them - found a set of LED that are wonderful (do you think I could find them again to add more to our walkways? Nope of course not).

We feel this way about so many things - do we take the chance of bringing the wrath of the Liberal/left/enviro-wackos or do we quietly exist below the radar. All I know is that we haven’t packed up and headed to a cabin in the North woods yet, but we have food, ammo and real cash money (and of course light bulbs) stashed away for the coming ‘enforcement’ by the civilian community organizing army.  This is wrong on so many levels that America and many other places of the World are facing this dilemma.

  3. My house has a couple of outdoor lights that come on at night automatically.  I don’t mind the CFLs in those, nor the other outside porch lights.  My 10 year old daughter has a bedroom and a playroom that have them as well, simply because she seems to have them on all the time.  I have one in my bedroom lamp which is on a lot in the evening.  Same for my computer area.  I figure I save about $3 per month on electricity.  Not a huge amount, but enough to justify using the CFLs in those locations.  As for the rest of the house, I will continue to use the regular bulbs.  I figure I have stockpiled enough to will some to my grandkids.  They ought to be worth a lot by then.
